Yup. I honestly believe that when and if this team is competitive, it's because Marincin, Klefbom, Schultz and Nurse develop into a studly top 4. So....2016-17? - Jeropotato
Well I highly doubt that will be Shultz. He's nothing more than Marc-Andre Bergeron 2.0. I'm sick of him being held in such high regard just because he was willing to sign here. |

I think he's a bit more talented than that, but I get what you're saying. He's a way away from earning the 'next Brian Leetch' title. |

I don't know what the real reason is.
in my estimation they were all pretty comparable in terms of impact/mistakes (klefbom, nurse, marincin. even hunt)
however, I will say that marincin plays a much 'quieter' game than that of nurse and klefbom (admittedly, he did start jumpin up last season while he gained confidence).
nurse is pretty flashy, and klefbom still has a long way to go as he kinda plays like his hair is on fire. (at least in preseason) kinda makes some big plays (negatively and positively) and is such a powerful skater, so his positives are incredibly noticeable.
just kind of a guess though..
I think mm shoulda been kept with the oilers, but I will say that I don't think hes nearly established enough to overcome what may have been a mediocre camp. and neither do I think his absence has been a huge detriment to us in either of the first 2 games. I think some of us may been thinking a little revisionist to how strong he was last year. certainly a very pleasant surprise and fairly solid both ways most night against tough competition. but no star game changer just yet - hugefemale dog77
I know it's a small sample size for Marincin, but he came up and he played awesome. The team asked him put on some weight over the summer, which he did, and because his conditioning suffered a little bit as a result you send him down?
I don't see how anyone can try to justify that. He comes up and he plays decent to start. Really starts to pick it up towards the end of the season and builds all kinds of confidence, and how do they try to keep him rolling and keep his confidence high? By demoting to the AHL and keeping people on the team that haven't proven to the better player. Real confidence boost.
Then you have Yakupov. Comes in his rookie year, struggles a bit at the beginning but completely explodes at the end of the season scoring 11 goals in April for 2nd in the league. Then how do you build on that confidence and try to keep the kid rolling? By playing him less than 5 minutes the opening night. Then he starts to struggle a bit and within a week and a half you sit him as a healthy scratch, that'll get the ol' confidence back . "Ok now that you're back you'll be playing with plugs, oh, and you'll be playing in your off wing .. Wtf why is this kid still struggling.
What's the point of drafting and developing players when every time one of them starts rolling and gaining confidence we just shut them down and put them on the bench, or in the AHL? Why is it ok to play aging liability Ference or stop gap Nikittin when we have a prospect who showed, albeit in a small sample size, that he can and is better than these players?
What kind of message are we sending to our prospects? How long has it been since we drafted and developed a solid NHL player who stayed around?
I'm sorry, I will cheer for the Oilers no matter what, and I have never complained about coaching or management before, but Eakins is an idiot, and I hate that he's responsible for these kids futures. He hasn't done a single thing with anyone on the Oilers that would make me think he's a good coach or that he knows what he's doing.
That's my last rant on Eakins. You guys all know how I feel, and I hate you all.... Especially you rutts

I loved the old resident evil games before they became just FPS's....is the style a throwback? - Jeropotato
Yeah its somewhat a throwback to that where you have to conserve ammo and use your brain at times from what I have played its not bad at all...just depends on what you are into |

I prefer the slower creepier game where you have to find your way as opposed to the newer RE games where the path is set and all about shooting. |

how did Marincin have a mediocre camp? bad first 2 games adjusting to weight and was great his other games. This while being dragged down by Fraser/Aulie. With Hunt-Schultz out there, whenever a Dman takes a penalty, they're forced into playing PK. Neither can. Nurse has yet to play a second in the NHL so forcing him into that role today is dumb.
Marincin was great last year. He was like a +7% CF rel on just an abysmal team while playing top lines with Petry! They should be playing Kopitar's line tonight! No game changer but EDM's best left shot D! |

I liked MAB until he took out Rollie. But the team recognized what they had in him and didn't try to turn him into something he wasn't. |

EDM is seriously in dire need of Marincin-Petry with how sh*tty their D is tonight. Sad that injury or trade isn't the reason they aren't playing, but dumb (frank)ing coaching |

Yeah you might like this one then coz it doesnt hold your hand and you have to conserve ammo as opposed to shooting everything dead on sight |
