Sure lets just switch coaches then get the players to learn yet another system and so on and so on.....how has that been working out for us? - RatedR80
The Different will be that an nhl coach with experience will have a system.(waiting for bombs) |

I agree. Also, you don't fire a coach 3 games into the season.
Still, the decisions he's making are real head scratchers. If the quality of the roster and coaching are both working against their chances, you might need to make some decisions there |

no kidding. little to nothing to do with the goal against and it'll be labelled as a sh*t game for him defensively because of the magical +- - TheNugeIsHuge
The other question I have is why is this nurse's first game? I get the size factor but this is a terrible way to ease a guy in |

The kings won the cup last year and lost to Phoenix and haven't had the best start so of course there going to come guns a blazing. The sad thing is they should have won against Calgary or Van and then people wouldn't over react when they lose games they shouldn't win. Things aren't looking good. Doesn't matter who is to blame this is getting old. |

This. I usually respect his opinions as well but lately the way he's defending Eakins is (frank)ed up. Eakins is a huge problem. He's a stubborn piece of crap. Just because we fired other coaches doesn't make him the right guy. - Ihatebrianburke

This comment section is the only thing more catastrophic in Oiler world than that 1st period.
And all those times the Oilers picked first, they could have moved down to add stuff they needed. Can you imagine if they had swapped picks with another team that wanted Yakupov, and could have drafted Ryan Murray, or Hampus Lindholm, or Olli Maatta, or Cody Ceci, or Jacob Trouba, or Griffin Reinhart, or Morgan Rielly? Any one of Columbus or Anaheim or Pittsburgh or Ottawa or Winnipeg or the Islanders or the Leafs would have traded picks with Edmonton that year AND given them something else in return. Something BIG probably.
But Edmonton goes and picks Yakupov. They needed defensemen, like a single actual blue chip defensemen, and in a draft with at least 7 of them, they picked another forward instead of moving down.
That whole situation is indicative of the two biggest issues with the Oilers:
1) Their scouting staff cannot recognize talent.
2) Their development staff cannot get the most out of the prospects they do have.
I can't decide if Eakins sucks, or if he's discovering the same thing that Krueger and Renney and Quinn discovered, which is that it is not possible to polish a turd. |

I was convinced I'd give Eakins till the 20 game mark before calling for his firing, but with his recent roster decisions, he has until game 10 until I stop waiting for results. |

because eakins thinks you need to throw them into the wolves. He said the same about playing Klef against Backes's line last season. A lot of questionable coaching calls |

yep. Summer NiH had more patience and didn't expect so many questionable decisions. Hope he's not too stubborn to make changes accordingly |

I think most Oil fans have been scratching their heads since Eakins came on board... the man has a learning disability. |
