Okay, you need to think this through for a second.
Firstly, Yak might be playing well on both ends in the first 2 (TWO!) games this year. But he has to prove he can maintain this sort of effort consistently. He may be rewarded tonight.
Secondly, Eakins has to be very, very careful when pairing him up with rookie Draisaitl. Shelter the minutes and the zone starts. DO NOT put them in a position to fail, lose confidence, ect.
3rdly, Yak could be promoted to the 2nd line, breaking up the pair, but that now means that Eakins has to be careful how he deploys both his 2nd and 3rd lines.Unless Yak proves without a doubt that he handle it, it certainly complicates things, especially on the road.
Lastly, do the Math. The Gordon, Joensuu, Hendricks line is designed to take the majority of the tough defensive zone starts. Nobody is gonna get more 5X5 minutes than the RNH,Hall, and Ebs line. So what does leave to split between The LD/Yak Line and the Arco/Perron line? Not much but if I were to make the choice, the tougher the zone start the more I would lean towards Arco/Perron.
Also, you just hate Eakins, so you will always default to this as part of your argument. Try to look at this objectively and consider why Yak hasn't gotten more ice time. - Jeropotato
I am looking at it objectively, Eakins says who ever is playing better will be getting more starts. You want to talk about objectively? When Ganger was poopty in his own end and offensively was he benched? Sat? Demoted? NOPE. What about Eberle? Nuge? Hall? anyone? NOPE.
He claims that the best players will play, the people putting in the most effort will get the most ice time. But he doesn't follow through with what he says.
Yes Draisaitl is a rookie, but there are plenty of rookies on plenty of teams with far lower pedigree and potential than Draisatl that are playing far more minutes and getting far more opportunities on deeper teams.
If Eakins did what he says then i would hate him slightly less, but he doesn't. |

Youre not looking at it objectively, youre picking it apart with a singular objective in mind, trying to pin every loss, every mistake every second of misused ice time on Dallas Eakins. That is the objective of everyone of your posts. He's damned no matter what he does.
What happens when/if Yak gets some tougher zone starts and tries to cheat and we get burned on too many occasions? Eakins is damned if he doesn't make an adjustment, taking Yak out of a situation he isn't suited for. I know you won't hold back. So what if he does limit his zone starts and puts him on sheltered situations and increases PP time and Yak does well? You're gonna be all over him because Yak is so amazing but he has limited minutes.
I get it, you have a deep personal dislike for the Head Coach. |

I'm trying to blame every loss on Eakins? Really? do you even read what i write at all?
Edit: You seem to have a hard on for Eakins, who has no (frank)ing systems what so ever and does absoultely (frank) all to back up what he says. NOTHING... |

I don't have a hard on for Eakins. I have a hard on for not firing yet another coach, and seeing a vastly improved roster. I'm just tired of the same old argument. I find it weak and tired and and easy scapegoat.
Eakins might not be the solution, but I place 80% of the blame on the players simply not being good enough in key positions. |

Weird that we had better results out of teams with less depth at forward and far worse defense.
i agree that firing all of these coaches was a joke, but you never heard me, or anyone else for that matter, complaining about the coaches prior to Eakins.
But it's ok, fake it till you make right? |

In one post you ask that Yak's past transgressions (defensive game) be forgiven based on 2 very good games, yet you are unwilling to do the same for Eakins?
Kruger was lucky. Did a great job with the special teams and Dubnyk had a career year. It was very much a Toronto Maple Leafs type season. Did you know the Oilers were badly outshot in 13 of the games they won that year? Again, not saying Eakins was the right choice, but Kruger was not the coach to vault this team to new heights.
Edit: In regards to the bolded.
Expectations were lower. That is all. |

I agree Eakins is not the solution, 80% of the blame goes to Eakins for not being good enough to coach the players, Kruger did more with less.
P.S I though Eakins was a mistake from the start with this team, they should have hired an experienced coach for such a young team |

2 years in a row, what luck
Yaks past transgressions that he was quite honestly mostly responsible for. Lets see how many points Ebs gets playing 9 minutes a night with Gazdic and Gordon.
Lets see how much confidence a first overall has coming into the season having previously led the team in goals to be played less than 5 mintues opening night, then scratched in less than 2 weeks, then demoted upon returning, to the 3rd and 4th lines. I honestly have no (frank)ing clue what so ever, how you can even attempt to try and justify Eakins as a coach, how he can constantly say one thing, and another.
Then he comes out this year and says the best players will play, yet Yakupov has arguably been on of our best forwards, if not the best forward we've had while having the 2nd lowest ice time on the team, and meanwhile arguably our 2nd best defenceman is sitting in the AHL.
Can you tell me one single other top 9 forward that was benched, demoted or a healthy scratch for their poor defensive play? Because i can't. Just another way that Eakins talks a lot of poop but doesn't (frank)ing back it up
Edit: And maybe our defense wouldn't be so (frank)ing bad if Eakins knew how to manage a (frank)ing NHL team, but he doesn't he has no clue. He knows his joke of a swarm defense, which wouldn't suprise me at all if that was the reason why we have these pictures of goals where our whole (frank)ing team is chasing the puck. Swarm defense, it's like watching toddlers play soccer, and i'm pretty sure that's his (frank)ing system |

curious, for the guys who are saying Fire Eakins...who do they plan on having replace him, and saying anyone would be better than Eakins is not an answer.
Whats the point of dropping a coach just to add another coach with little to no NHL experience? There isnt like there is some NHL savy coach just waiting to be picked up. |
