I agree with some of this but Eakins needs to give Yak more PP time even if it's with Hall and Nudge. - AlEx_OiL
I certainly wouldn't be opposed to seeing him on the "top" PP unit, but it's two games in in. While Eberle hasn't be good so far, that trio has kinda carried this team the past two season so there exists a history with them that needs catering to as well. |

On the bright side Montreal lost 7-1 and they started planning a period already.
Won't be so bad when we lose 14-1 tonight with that it mind. - Lahey
i watched that game, Tampa looked crazy good. I think they make the finals this year if they can keep it up and stay healthy |

Planning a period when the club is that old? Isn't that against nature? |

I don't think taking out Petry is going to hurt us. I think we will do just fine, Nurse gets his chance to show his stuff and I think he'll put on a good show. We are all going to be surprised when the oil take the win tonight.

Could Petry be a healthy scratch for a possible pending trade? Maybe they finally realized they need some physical hockey players on this team....not just taller hairdressers than they already had......You gotta wonder....considering they are 2 games in and half of them are sitting with Boo Boos! |

Ludicrous to scratch petry if he's healthy.
Absolutely brainless move - hugefemale dog77
If it isn't due to a pending trade or an injury then it's really getting harder for some of you to defend Eakins. |

sorry, you may buy that but it's a load of poop IMO. All he did was try and deflect the criticism with what if's, the best players need to play the most minutes. He ruined Yakupov last year, and now that he's back on track he's not playing him as much as he should be.
I didn't ignore it, it was just a garbage excuse for an explanation, that you seemed to have bought. - SpoiledByOil
How is it a load of sh!t? There is no fallacy to the point that both Yak and Draisaitl need sheltering as it stands and that separating them would both make it harder to shelter them as well as break-up either a line that's succeeding now (Arco's line) or one with a history of production (RNH's line). So now tell, me which do you (frank) with for the sole purpose of giving Yak an extra 1-3 minutes of ice time at even strength? |

you don't (frank) with either, you just spread it out more. He's playing 4th line minutes and playing better than almost all of our other players. You don't need to break up lines to give one more minutes |

(frank), I had to go into work for a bit. Just started to read the last few pages where every out of work former NHL coach is being talked about. |

The moment the team sent down Marincin in favour of Hunt, we all lost our ability to completely defend Eakins and MacT. I maintain that his deployment of Yakupov so far shouldn't be as big as some of these guys are making it out to be. |

I never could defend all of his decisions. Not possible. Every coach makes bad decisions. I never said he was infallible.
But in no way does this strengthen the 'easy answer' posters that blame everything, even the most silly sh1t, on whoever the coach happens to currently be
But yes, terrible decision. Petry is our best defender. By a good margin |

I never heard a single person ever female dog or complain about an Oilers coach before Eakins. You guys can defend the idiot all you want. He's a (frank)ing joke, I'm embarassed to cheer for a team that has him as a coach, and even more embarassed that some fans actually try to defend this idiot. |

The yaks deployment is tired.
They talk as if he's a proven dominant 40 goal scorer that's getting screwed.

Spread it out how, though? There's only so many lines that he can trust a line with a rookie C to pull ahead against. Have you considered that maybe Yak looks a lot better because he's been playing weaker competition?
Maybe it's best to start him off in a role where we know he can succeed (playing secondary and tertiary competition) and let him build some confidence before moving him up for no more reason than to get him a few more minutes of even strength ice time because he's beating up on that aforementioned lesser competition. |

Seems like a desperate move by a desperate coach. People should actually be happy about this move as it seems to show Eakins in distress. |

Easy answers on everything aside from the lack of an nhl roster is the MO of many posters
Fact is; no coach would've achieved success the last number of years with our roster the way it's been |

Kreuger's tenure had it's fair share of detractors and Renney's final year was a sh!t show. The female doges were abundant. |

The delusional poop is the fans who don't see how ridculously stupid he was deployed last year. And how NO SINGLE OTHER PLAYER was demoted and scratched and benched for their poor play, only the kid with half a season under his belt at the time.
How can you defend playing him less than 5 minutes in the opener, scratching him in less than 2 weeks after the rookie season he had?
Please (frank)ing explain how he was supposed to succeed playing with plugs? Please tell me how he was sheltered by not playing the 5v3s? by playing the left hand point on the 5v4s? Please justify 1 single (frank)ing decision this idiot of a coach has ever made towards Yakupov? Just 1, justify 1 (frank)ing decision? |

Alright man, Eakins is going to ruin this kid and you're all going to support him in doing so.
i feel like i'm taking crazy pills. i don't understand how anyone could possibly be in favour of how Eakins has used this kid and ruined his confidence. It's a (frank)ing joke and it amazes me that people defend it.

The joke is how Eakins actually somehow gets defended on these threads.
Doesn't matter that last year we regressed IN EVERY SINGLE CATEGOREY with a better team on paper.
it's all the players fault, has nothing to do with some garbage ass idiot system. |
