Man did we really have random players back then. Makes me want to fire up the 360 and pop in nhl07 or 08 for a laugh - shvingter88
Oh god, 07 when we still had Weimer, Mogilny, Malakhov, Oliwa |

u think that Mogilny was better than Ryder? I didn't think he was that bad, still had the laser of a shot. |

gelinas with just over 12mins, seems like his mins keep going down game by game, i guess with a few penalties and that we went against a high scoring team that will lower his mins though
severson came close to 20mins, merrill with 20mins |

In the game or irl? In the game yes and depends on which time you look at when he was in Jersey. His first stop absolutely, his second not so much |

other than a misplay here, a missplay there, a turnover here, another turnover over there, trying a scott nieds impression with the puck, a bad pass, an ill attempt at a pass, being out of position here and there, i think he played a great game |

can't believe he played 25 min and gelly only 13...is he really that vital to the PK? |

i understand thee philosophy of having a shot blocker like salvador back there who can bump the forwards around and clear the crease, its just he is too slow to be very effective at this point |

I don't know if I'm more pissed at deboer or amazed that the team carried an anchor around for half the game and still managed to beat a good team. |

It's insane why doesn't someone in the media specifically ask Pete about all of his clear defensive mishaps? |

This was a problem for him even last year. His game has just slowed down too much in important areas.
Also, my first impression of Severson was Duncan Keith-lite, but he's looking more and more like a future #1 dman. - rmdevil313
Totally agree. I think Sal's deficiencies are just highlighted more because the demand on him is that much greater this year since the team is playing much faster.
And yeah Severson, like Keith, is one of those second rounders who comes in looking like he should have been a high to mid first rounder. |

i think they were thinking it is between severson and larsson to be in the lineup, severson is really impressing, hopefully it isnt just the i got into the NHL adrenaline, i believe he will keep it up
only other player i can see larsson coming in for is gelinas |

I'm guessing the same thing USA hockey was thinking when they left Boucher off their WJC team |

think i heard rich chere say something along the line of "zids and sal had some tough minutes out there, seemed like they spent a lot of time in their own zone" or something along those lines to Pete
and of course DeBoer gives a vanilla answer saying something like "when you are going against a team as skilled as them, anyone of course is going to have tough minutes"
While his answer is somewhat true, Sal was glaringly worse than the other 5 and i don't think it is just from us focusing on him and waiting for him to make a mistake...when he makes them they usually turn into grade A chances bc he doesn't have the speed/skill to make up for it. On the other hand our other D make their mistakes but they usually aren't as costly and/or they are able to recover more quickly |

On the HF boards there's talk that the Devils are winning so that's more important than Larsson.
I'd counter that Larsson's long-term development is more important than three games, but anyway. Check this out:
http://espn.go.com/blog/d...raft-profile-adam-larsson
"Adam is one of the best skater’s in this year’s draft -- he has excellent speed and mobility. He also has patient puck handling abilities and can surprise an opponent with a solid hit. His size and skating ability make him comparable with Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman." - Chris Edwards, NHL Central Scouting
"A very good skater, Larsson is poised in every situation on the ice and calculates his decisions with precision and quickness. His panic threshold is off the charts and his demeanour rarely changes. He can chip in offensively by leading the rush, springing teammates with stretch passes or finding a hole from the point with his good shot. He is extremely reliable and ready to step right into any NHL lineup." - International Scouting Services 2011 Draft Guide
"With his combination of size and skill and his proven ability to play against pros in the Swedish Elite League, Larsson can and, if a deal can get done, will play in the NHL next season." - Gare Joyce, ESPN.com
Ready to step into any lineup in 2011. Still awaiting his 2014 arrival. Something's wrong with this picture. |

I consider myself patient with certain things, but there's no getting around that you're right. Salvador's mistakes result in grade A chances and/or odd-man rushes consistently, and it doesn't look like it's going to get any better. |

itll never happen but Salvador needs to be benched for Larsson and then Merrill will be able to swap back to his natural side.
