He is the best-conditioned forward in the NHL, and is far and away one of the strongest leaders. That the Leafs have not won a cup since his arrival is more indicative of the fact that the TML lack any mainstream media attention than any failings on the part of Mr. Kessel himself, who should have been named captain years ago. If Don Cherry has said it once, he has said it one hundred times: Canadians are not captain material, due to their lack of heart and grit. An American, Swinn, or a Fede, would all be better suited.
