Waiters and Waitresses don't any harder than the next person. They deal with people sure. But tons of people with crap jobs deal with people on a daily basis. We aren't tipping them.

I left a $0 tip maybe a week before the McCoy thing happened. It's probably the only time I've ever tipped less than 15%. 20% is usually the minimum I leave.

The server took our initial drink order. He then took our food order when he delivered the drinks. A runner delivered our food a bit later. My drink (beer and a water) were both empty well before we finished our food. Never once did the waiter stop by our table to see how we were doing or to see if we needed anything else (like refills). Our empty plates were cleared by a runner/busser.

We actually were planning on ordering more food and at least one more round of drinks. But our server never came back to our table. He served approximately 5 tables around us consistently, refilling their drinks and bringing them food. My drinks sat empty for over 45 minutes (no exaggeration). We actually had to get up from our table and ask another server to get us our check because our waiter would not come back to our table. When he finally showed up with our check (the other server told him to give it to us), he did not apologize for the service.

I have no idea what happened, but I tipped $0 and I did not feel the least bit guilty about it. Had he just apologized, I would have actually left 10-15%. Oh well, we left for another restaurant where we got more food and a couple rounds of drinks. His and his employer's loss, I guess.

ive never actually done it since ive never had terrible service but if/when it comes my way i wont feel bad about leaving a less than stellar tip. theyre not entitled to slack off and do whatever they want and still receive a similar tip than what they would have if they worked their asses off

To give them free money at no benefit to us the consumer. Service is bad more than its good just about anywhere. Unless you just go to the one same place over and over and over. Then your theyre regular and get special treatment. Then in return I give a poopty tip because they arent giving me my poop on time.

Theyre jobs arent intended as careers. Theyre for students to work while schooling. It isnt our job to make sure they get free money because they cant get a real job. Its another welfare. Im just saying its ridiculous. It isnt our fault they cant get full time hours and or get a better job. They would strive to do better things rather than sit pat making free money.

Many states have different wages for servers that is way less than minimum wage.

Again in NYS servers must be paid at minimum $5 an hr. That's $3 less an hr than the dishwashers make.

They make less than minimum wage because the law sets the minimum wage lower for tipped workers. If a server does not receive enough tips to make up the difference between their hourly wage and the standard minimum wage, the employer does have to make up the difference.

No. It isnt any different than working fast food. These people want everything for free. They get jobs that arent careers. Most of them can barley do said job in the first place. But they want more.
