Not even for an entire game. He's been playing with Couts and Read the last 2 games. It says a lot about how the coaches feel if they need to move him off of the checking line when they have a defensive zone face-off. - PhillySportsGuy
He was with Vinny for most of the first two games. Berube scrambled the lines when they went down against NJ.
And who has Berube been replacing him with on the checking line for defensive zone draws? |

I don't even have time to mess with this today. The Flyers have problems, and Giroux isn't great every night, because he is human.
But just like people.are.seeing that it is almost impossible for the Flyers to not allow at least three goals with Braydon Coburn out of the lineup, one day Giroux is gonna get hurt. Because players get hurt.
Then those people are gonna understand the phrase "up poop creek without a paddle," because that is where they will be. - AllInForFlyers
May as well happen now, would seriously improve our odds of picking in the top 3 this year.

Would you make any of these trades?
B.Schenn for Yakupov
B.Schenn for Grigorenko
B.Schenn for M.Domi
B.Schenn for Jake Virtanen
B.Schenn for Sven Baertschi
My thinking is that this team is not a cup contender. So i would try to start arranging the pieces to fit better. Move Schenn for a natural winger. Hopefully Vinny comes back and plays well enough that he can be moved at the TDL. Then the pieces can fit better. I can get wingers to build around couturier and giroux and lt luaghton be the shutdown center so couturier isn't facing so many dz starts. - J35Bacher

I don't think the conversation was that G sucks or anything like that. Have to re-read maybe.
But I do think his standing among Flyers fans is probably higher than how he is valued by the rest of the league. And by that I mean, players, GM's and other media pundits.
Consider recent polls on who would you build a team around. Consider who got picked for the Olympics. Etc.
He is my favorite player. I only suggested considering to trade him for the next wave of young superstar because of fears that by the time the defense finally gets fixed he will be on the wrong side of 30. I think that's legitimate. - TheGreat28
Who gives a poop what GMs who sign David Clarkson to seven-year deals and Dave Bolland to five-year deals think? Who gives a (frank) what writers who voted Alex.Ovechkin TWICE onto the same All-League team think?
Claude Giroux plays every game in front of this fan base. Every game. And that guy does little more.than do.poop that helps.them.win hockey games.
Open your eyes, man. Watch games in other markets. I don't need Craig MacTavish''s opinion on what Claude Giroux is she I watch the guy play 80.(frank)ing times a year! |

He'll put G or Bellmare on the ice for the face-off then get a switch when they move up ice. |

If we trade him for Domi's kid, we have to draft Kaberle's kid to protect him from Luke Richardson's kid.
Seriously, I'd do the last 2. |

I think Baertschi is edging towards being a bust. BSchenn had a 41 point season as a 22 year old. Sven is in the AHL despite Calgary's lack of talent. |

I was just thinking last night that I know it is early but I would rather move earlier then later. A guy like Vinny you might have to wait until the TDL because of trying to build value. But I woul rar start working on getting the puzzle pieces and building the puzzle then playing wih a team that is flawed and mix match |

Again, I'm not so sure they end up with G-Couts-Laughton. I think Laughton get's traded eventually. Long term I think either Schenn blossoms as 2nd line guy or they bring in someone.
But listen to Berube. He doesn't say Couts and 2nd line. We all do. - TheGreat28
That doesn't mean Couturier shouldn't be given a chance to produce. He put up 39 points last year in a predominantly defensive role. |
