I"m actually going on a very similar rant in the Leafs thread right now.
Leafs fans crap on the players that actually have talent, but worship the plugs.
It's bizarre.
In our defence, every team loves their poop-disturber.
Hell, Flyers fans defended Steve Downie for years. - Atomic Wedgie
We only had Downie for 1 full season, and he was not not really "loved" per se.
Now, Darcy Tucker, that dude answered the bell all the time. Would have loved him. |

Do yourself a favor, head over the the Flyers facebook page and read the comments. People shred Giroux, Voracek and every talented guy except Simmonds and praise Rinaldo and moan the demotion of Rosehill. |

We saw the C or even C- minus game from Getzlaf and Perry last night.
They did the minimal possible to get a W.
When the games really matter they have another level of play.
See the Ducks vs Dallas series last spring for example.
One team last night is a legit cup contender.
The other played a decent game and salvaged a point. - Marc D

Tie Domi was cheered by TML fans after running away from 2 legit tough guys, hitting a player who was being held down, and then literally (LITRILLY!) his behind Tomas Kaberle from big bad Luke Richardson. I rest my case. - jmatchett383

I lost all respect for Domi that day. And had to buy a new remote control for my tv, as I shattered mine against the wall. |

Schneider will be leading the league in sv% by the All-Star game. Then the Devils will re-sign Brodeur and Marty will start the rest of the games, causing the Devils to miss the playoffs. |

Domi was actually a pretty good hockey player for a period of time.
And then he decided he was no longer a goon - he was an elder statesman of the game of hockey.
He stopped doing what made him effective.
And he hung around for about 3 years, but since the fans worshipped him he kept getting ice time. |

I'll disagree with that slightly; I'll acknowledge score effects were in play when they were up 2-0, and I freely acknowledged that the Flyers should try to steal the two points from a borderline elite team that was playing back-to-back.
But the Flyers played well enough in that game to earn the point they got. Perhaps Anaheim has another gear that they didn't show, but the Flyers can only control what they do, not what others do -- it all evens out over 82 games.
Hell, if people truly believe they shouldn't have gotten a point last night, I'd argue that they certainly deserved a point that they didn't get on Opening Night in Boston. |

Interestingly, I have no problem with him pounding on that fan who fell in to the penalty box.

I liked Domi for his toughness during his NYR days when he and Probert had their bouts (we all found out who REALLY owned the belt in Round 2). I've never seen a player be able to take a punch like he could. But yes, I lost respect for him as a tough guy that day. It's ruined him in my eyes for all times. |
