Do yourself a favor, head over the the Flyers facebook page and read the comments. People shred Giroux, Voracek and every talented guy except Simmonds and praise Rinaldo and moan the demotion of Rosehill.

Interestingly, I have no problem with him pounding on that fan who fell in to the penalty box.

- MBFlyerfan

That was pure comedy. Still, I'll take this:

What you don't see if Clint Malarchuk getting submarined, which is why the players are all tangled up.

Milbury and the fan's shoe is the classic.

Ah, Mike Milbury. I don't know what's more ridiculous/comical: beating a fan with his own shoe, the Ovechkin rant, or his tenure as NYI GM.

Which will happen first?
Flyers win a game or Jagr injures his groin?

I'll disagree with that slightly; I'll acknowledge score effects were in play when they were up 2-0, and I freely acknowledged that the Flyers should try to steal the two points from a borderline elite team that was playing back-to-back.

But the Flyers played well enough in that game to earn the point they got. Perhaps Anaheim has another gear that they didn't show, but the Flyers can only control what they do, not what others do -- it all evens out over 82 games.

Hell, if people truly believe they shouldn't have gotten a point last night, I'd argue that they certainly deserved a point that they didn't get on Opening Night in Boston.

- AllInForFlyers

I'm not saying that they didn't earn the point.

I'm saying that teams play differently when they have the lead (or deficit). Score effects had more to do with allowing them to garner more shots ---> scoring chances ---> goals.

It's not the only reason, but the most prominent imo.

That's totally fine -- I understand what you're saying. Anaheim did ease off the gas when they were up 2-0; I absolutely can admit that.

Lesser players get more shifts, so on and so forth. Trust me, I get it.

So the Flyers weren't good because they were able to score goals on a (generally) good defensive team who were trying to play defensive hockey?

No, I'm saying teams go into more of a shell defensively while they have the lead, which often leads to more shots allowed.

All the while, the team trailing tends to amp it up offensively, which generally leads to more shots on net.

More shots in the grand scheme of things leads to more goals. But the randomness of the game and "puck luck" doesn't always mean it works every game.

Last night seemed more fatigue than sitting back on the Ducks' part. But yeah, all those 3rd-period comebacks last season... seemed like the Flyers couldn't get into the game if the other team still had the foot on the gas at all.

I'd certainly agree that fatigue played a role in it as well.

Really? So no optimism at all about their 0-2-2 record?

Re: Optimistic point of view:

Everyone of these games have been winnable.
The Flyers are showing great resilience in coming back from deficits a lot already (similar to what they did last season).
The Flyers special teams are very good.
Simmonds has blossomed into one of the premiere power forwards in the league - dare I say an All-Star appearance this season?
Jake has come alive. Hopefully that trend continues (big visor and all).

How long is it going to take Garth Snow to replace Streit and MacDonald?

I wonder what you'd be like as a fan of a team who hadn't won a playoff series in 21 years.

A second nurse in Dallas tested positive for Ebola.
Plus she was on a plane from Cleveland the day before the fever started.
Scary.

This will never happen, but if I made the rules, you're 100% free to go to any African nation currently undergoing an Ebola outbreak. However, you're not welcome back.

Also, that whole "make sure your entire body is covered when touching someone with Ebola" thing is overrated.

No. I guess I'm optimistic now they could hit the over on my 4 pt October. There's a chance their special teams could make them a bubble team. I'm completely surprised they got two points out of MTL/ANA.

I hope when the schedule eases that they aren't completely burnt on each other and the coaches system.

I think there can be more than 1.

50 - Richard/Howe
60s/70s - Orr, Esposito
80s/90s - Gretzky/Lemieux
00s-10s - Crosby

I do find it ironic that Lindros' name is not here...he was a man among boys when he played...I think players who change the way the game is played are generational...

Had he not had the injuries/concussions and if you discount his numbers after his first season in NYR then yes. But to put him in the same category as Lemieux/Gretzky/Howe/Orr, you just can't do it. If you look at just his Flyers career, you can make a case.
