Your willingness to decide who is wrong before knowing all the facts is up to you.
I'm saying I don't know the full story, so I'm not blaming either Gagne or Holmgren. I not defending or attacking either one. I'm saying that I only know one side's view and I'm not going to shred the other side with limited information. - Jsaquella

Gotcha, that's probably what I was thinking of. - Roytastic
Despite the LTIR exemption, it would be awesome if Hextall could swing Pronger's contract to a team like Florida or whomever. If Pronger retires, they get the cap hit, but spend zero dollars in real money and the salary(if Pronger doesn't retire) is minimal. |

I agree. It'd be a win win for both parties. I wonder what Team B would be asking for in return other than an artificial cap hit to take the contract off our hands. |

Exactly, so until that changes, I will not form an opinion on the situation. Somehow I will manage to go on living without being concerned that I didn't take sides in the Gagne vs Holmgren war of 2013 |

Well whatever you do, don't let it slip out to your children that if they do something wrong, as long as they stay silent, they're safe. |

The ideal solution would be what Boston did with the Islanders. Trade him for a conditional pick-say a 7th rounder-if he plays a game for the new team. If he doesn't, then there's no compensation.
Now, I doubt that would work. If I'm Dale Tallon or another team on a shoestring budget, I'm going to want an asset, because I'm probably less desperate to get free cap help than the Flyers.

And don't let it slip to yours that if they see someone as a nice guy or, say, a class act, that person can never do any wrong and is therefore treated as a deity.
Just because Gags was a cool guy doesn't mean his words should be carved into stone slabs, man. There's a whole other side that we don't know. |

Yea I imagine there would have to be some sort of incentive. And considering it's not just 1 year kind of thing, they have a bit more leverage. At that point you have to ask, how much is almost 5mil in cap space worth to you? 5th rounder? 4th maybe? Also, what could you even do with that cap space this year if you had it? |

Huh? That's a really moronic metaphor.
First, we don't know that either side did anything "wrong". Second, we have one party that is angry. That doesn't mean the other party did them wrong. It's possible the party that is angry is simply pissed off because the other side didn't agree with their worth.
Again, I don't know that Holmgren did anything "Wrong". I just know he decided to not re-sign Gagne. Outside of that, neither you or I knows what really transpired. |

It'd be worth a 4th rounder to me. I'd trade Pronger and a 4th for future considerations if it mean the entire cap hit came off.
As far as how it would work this year, I'm not sure. I've never seen a guy on LTIR traded. |

Not moronic at all but you are definitely welcome to your opinion but on this topic, I'd say it's a safebet that my ssuspicions are correct. |

As far as your metaphor goes, yeah, it is moronic. The situation you mention has absolutely nothing to do with the situation being discussed. I'm not saying Holmgren did nothing wrong. I'm saying I'm not going to judge the situation because I don't have the full story.
Holmgren may well have been an bumhole. I don't know if he was or wasn't. You seem to not understand the difference between defending somebody and deciding not to vilify somebody because you don't have all the facts. I'm not defending Holmgren. I'm saying I don't have all the facts, so I'm not going to blame him. |

If a 20 year old offering advice makes more sense than a 30 year old, then I'll side with the sensible one. |

I simply have no reason not to believe Gagne, if Homer doesn't comment on that situation. Cut and dry. This works with most situations. It doesn't matter if it's a situation of discipline or a light-hearted disagreement between two bodies. |

It's pretty ignorant to dismiss someone's opinion entirely because of age. I obviously don't know either of you personally but based on the time I've spent reading both of your posts on this board, It's clear to me that the "child's" opinion is much more valuable than yours. |

I think if we had all the info you are probably right. But Homer had no reason to respond publicly here. Whether he did or didn't do what Gagne said. So that's that. |

And this mean what? Your also on the other side of the topic, so this means absolutely nothing if you really want to get into this completely different conversation. |
