I don't think the best 6 d men even made the team!!!! I get why, and half a $$ agree with it but thats not good when the kids come in and look that much better then your vets. - landros 2
The best 6 D men now made the team. Pre season is pre season.

I tgibk u still get 5 years out of lad, but he's just one guy im sure theres others available. - JoeRussomanno
There are, but they have to be careful in moving B. Schenn. He's a guy you can't trade lightly because if he does put it together he's going to be scoring 25-30 goals.
Luke? yeah, trade him for a case of beer and a 2nd rounder |

Before getting hurt, Downie was a big positive for the Flyers. He did a good job until he got concussed. - Jsaquella
Hate to be a told u so, but at the time of that deal i said he was an i jury case and he was. |

No big deal. But what does that have to do with trading the Schenn's or the deal you proposed? - MJL
Much to my chagrin of bring opppsed to the deal at the time, it actually gave the team enough spark to make the playoffs. |

I really think b schenn is the type where all the stars have to be aligned for him to be successful. It wont happen in this town. |

Agreed, I think it is a poor place to be. I hope at Christmas they decide to trade vets if we are right and not trade assets for a push. A bit too soon to say this but writing seems to be on the wall. - coffee junkie
Being in the middle is the worst place to be. The teams that are better than the Flyers will eventually decline as the players get older while the teams worst than the Flyers will surpass them as they load up with top prospects. The Flyers won't be chasing Pittsburgh and Boston, they will be chasing Columbus and Buffalo in a couple of years.
As the Flyers add an endless supply of middle 6 forwards picking in the teens, Buffalo will be adding generational talent. It will be like when the Flyers were selling Richards and Carter as equals of Malkin and Crosby. |

It hasn't happened yet because they haven't given him the chance to do so. He is only 23, and his numbers are pretty consistent with players who have the same potential at the time of draft. Ryan Kesler scored 37 points when he was 23. |

Explain exactly what you mean by throw in? Cause he's not exactly a game changer either. |

Downie played a few good games and helped the team. Then he suffered the injury and was largely ineffective the rest of the season. So yes, I think it did not spark the team to the playoffs.

If they dont make that trade, and it takes another 2 weeks to get on a roll, do they make the playoffs? |

But Kessler also is a solid two way player and different skill set then Schenn. He puts up point while also playing a solid defensive game. |
