I had a feeling Oiler fans would be in here during some point of the season complaining about his play. Personally I don't know what's wrong with that team, they have made huge strides in filling out their roster. I mean Taylor Hall is an elite player in this league at this point they should be turning the corner. Last year they moved a younger player for an older one who had played on a very good team in St.Louis that was a great move, then they added Ference another solid player from a winning team. They improved their goaltending or at least on paper they added Purcel and Fayne and Nikitin and Pouliot all guys who had at least tasted the play offs ( I believe not sure about Nikitin ). I am not really sure what else you can do ? They added to every position that was a weakness and added depth and they still look like they are going to suck lol It has to be the culture over there where these guys can just come in and no longer have to give 100% I don't know lol |

Pouliot and Ference are not good additions at all and I disagree 100% about the Oilers filling their depth holes the right way. Management gets what they deserve and it sucks for the fans. |

Right because he isn't a number one defense man ? They did what they could without losing major pieces. Let's not forget that place isn't on 90% of the top players in the leagues list of places to go any one with a Ntc is saying no even if they offer something and they have to over pay to draw in free agents. They have drafted Nurse who is looking like he could really help their blue line. IMO they just need a whole new front office of hard nosed winners who will cut out that lated back mentality these guys have from years of losing. Show them it's not ok to lose. |

You're never going to win in this league without being strong down the middle. Oilers have Will Acton, Arcobello, an 18 year old, and the Nuge down the middle. |

That's true but when was the last time we had a number one center ? I agree our group is certainly stronger but none if that number one caliber and Elias to me isn't strong enough at 38 to handle the load which is likely why henrique is still playing center |

Elias is still better at C than any of those guys...Looking at there group makes me feel good about our Center depth. To think I thought we had problems. |

I don't consider Elias a center, but maybe. I definitely wouldn't mind Nuge over gionta. |

I mean, half the league is looking for 1st line centers. They don't grow on trees. Despite how much I like Zajac, I agree he isn't in the same boat as the Kopitars, Towes, etc.
That said, I prefer him to a lot of other players who are slotted as 1st line C's around the league. For example I like Zajac more that Bozak, Desharnais, Hodgson, Vermette, Fisher, Little, dare I even say Stepan.
"true #1 centers" are rare. |

Absolutely. Example : the Habs did a nice coup last season by trading for depth defenseman Mike Weaver, a very affordable warrior who helped replacing the often-injured defensemen and helped the team advancing further into the playoffs. Edmonton needs a few guys like that and yeah, the front office deserves the boot indeed.
