Nothing.
Or Mantha - Herzeleid
We'll just get him in 4 years as an UFA then.

Wow!!!
How long did it take you to come up with that thought??? - Sabresfan88
About as long as its going to take for the sabres to be respectable again. |

Which is why this is a non story. Everybody is right. Like Friedman said, Sabres said Mantha and that was the end of the discussion.
That's pretty much how the discussions will probably go with 25 other teams. Maybe the Sabres can get a stupid or desperate team to bite but don't hold your breath. - noffsin6
I think that is a weird way to look at it. Saying a team is stupid/desperate to make a move like that. Mantha is not helping Detroit this year and maybe next year win a cup. There is a chance he might not be as dominant in the NHL as Detroit fans believe. All we know about him is he's a big kid who can dominant against other kids in a league, QMJL, that focuses on scoring. myers is not an elite dman but he is in the conversation as being a top 15 and he is still young with years in his contract. Point is it's not desperation of a gm to trade a future potential all star, for a sure fire quality dman who addresses a need and fits your teams current time line.
For the record I don't blame Detroit for not making that move. |

Because true Power Forwards with size are few and far in between.
So giving up such potential is indeed stupid.
Not like Myers is a missing link for the Wings Stanley Cup chances.
Holland inquired, he heard the name, he politely said "CLICK".
The end. |

I hate my nosey neighbors looking in my yard everytime I'm out there. Do I buy a big tree (myers hehehe) now that will be expensive or buy a baby tree (mantha) that could grow into what I want, for pennies on the dollar? Although these dang trees always have trouble growing in my yard (sabres system)!!!
Wow that was awful lol. analogies galore |

In just 4 games Tyler Myers has 4 pim 6 shot and leads the team with an avarege of 29 min per game. Now i'm not the type of fan that makes my opinon about a player just on stats. Some people have this belief that they can go on to a website and say if this player is great or not or even sucks. Let me give an example if a player causes a turn over in the nz and then the puck is passed around 4x before a goal is scored does the player that caused the turn over get a point no they don't because cause thier is no state for that in the 4 sabres games that i watched yes i watch all 4 Tyler Myers has been the best defenseman on the team his defensive postion is better and every time he touches the puck he touches it with confedince.
The best thing to happen to Tyler Myers is Ted Nolan
So in my opinon should the Sabres trade Tyler Myers no they should not But they should still lesson to offers the asking price should be high sky high. Why he still has plenty of upside averages 29 min per game plays in every situation and once chara hangs up the skates he will be a one of a kind. |

Again I don't blame Detroit for not making the move. I think getting a top line winger outside of the top 10 draft picks is much more difficult to do than getting a great dman but let's not count our chickens before they hatch.
I too get very excited about blue chip prospects especially bcz my team is building around them. Reinhart, grigorenko, armia, 2015 1st, zadorov, ristolanen, McCabe, Pysyk. All I'm saying is it's a big jump from being a big teenager in juniors , especially the Q, vs playing grown men in the NHL. I reference luke Adam. A big power foward who tore up the QMJL aswell, dominated the traverse city tournament and now cannot crack the easiest roster in the NHL. |

If you really think Myers is a top 15 NHL defenseman then that's the problem. I don't think he's even close to that yet, and I'm pretty sure you aren't going to find very many GM's who think he is either. Hence, nobody but a stupid GM who thinks he's top 15 now or one that is desperate for a defensemen will pay that much for him.
He's a 3-4 defensemen with the potential to be a 1-2 in a few years. If you are trying to win now there are cheaper more experienced veterans that will help you more this year available.
If you are building for the future he's an option, but you aren't going to give away other parts of your future to get him. Really the best fit would be a team like Detroit trying to compete now while rebuilding for the future. They still aren't going to trade the other part of their future for Myers though. That wouldn't be smart. |

So you don't think myers is in the conversation as being a top 15 dman. I challenge you to name 20 dmen ahead of him! |

Jets don't make trades. They're too afraid to make a deal involving anyone above the fourth line. |

I would agree with this view of Myers, but his size means most teams would be interested.

I'd rather keep him, and if he is moved, I don't care where.
But the return to the Sabres will, and should be, killer.
Murray will not, and has said as much, give Myers away. |

Come on. None of these bolded are currently at his level. Letang has yet to come back from where he was 2 years ago, Shattenkirk while being good play against 2nd tier competition and is more of a 1 way player, Gudbranson, Fowler, and Vatanen? |

I think they'll wait till draft day to move him, I just don't see a market for him right now. Staff/Stew/Mesz/Benoit are still trade deadline front runners though. NYI and STL 1sts may get moved (although also more likely on draft day). |
