Nope Ill take a down year and especially a lottery pick this year. Still doesnt compare to the sabres in ability to get any better in how many years? I almost had a heart attack when someone on this site had a rumor of leino doing a try out in philly!

love seeing sabres fans predicting what theyll be able to get for Myers. what you expect to get( the moon and stars) will be far lower then what he gets in a trade. But, when your team is as bad as theirs is you have to have something to distract from the mess.

Its not that the sabres fans are predicting that's what they'll get. They're saying that's what they would have to get in order to trade him. Lets be clear: We do not have to trade him. He has a 4 year contract and his play the last season is trending upwards. Which means his value is only going upwards. The only reason to trade him would be if someone gave the Sabres a deal they could not refuse.

This is amplified by analyzing the Sabres organization. The Sabres are likely drafting 1 or 2 this coming year. 4 years from now, Eichel/McDavid are going to be 21. Reinhart will be 22. Risto/Zadorov will be 23. Girgensons and Grigo will be 24. They will be a very young team with a lot of those guys getting to the point they can play top line minutes in the NHL and pushing for playoff spots. At that point, Myers will be 28, which is right around prime for a defenseman. It also gives all the young defensemen a steady, veteran presence to learn from. This makes him even more valuable to the Sabres current rebuild.

So, again. Any trade for Myers would have be staggering. Which is why it almost certainly will not happen. Doesn't mean teams can't inquire about him.

Yes he's had his ups and downs but you could make the case that he's better now than he was as a rookie. His numbers don't reflect that probably because he plays for the worst collection of forwards in the last decade, especially last year.

Obviously any team trading for him is taking a risk, probably because they're giving up a lot but hey sometimes a team can get desperate enough to do something they thought they'd never do.

The reason to avoid acquiring him should not be his +/-, it should be because the price tag is (as it should be) very high and trading away players like Mantha can hurt you long term. But I'd say that Myers could do well on any of the teams mentioned here (Him and Ekman-Larsson would make me drool).

Myers was actually really medicore defensively in his rookie season. He led the NHL in giveways. No one noticed, due to his nice offensive numbers.

In just 4 games Tyler Myers has 4 pim 6 shot and leads the team with an avarege of 29 min per game. Now i'm not the type of fan that makes my opinon about a player just on stats. Some people have this belief that they can go on to a website and say if this player is great or not or even sucks. Let me give an example if a player causes a turn over in the nz and then the puck is passed around 4x before a goal is scored does the player that caused the turn over get a point no they don't because cause thier is no state for that in the 4 sabres games that i watched yes i watch all 4 Tyler Myers has been the best defenseman on the team his defensive postion is better and every time he touches the puck he touches it with confedince.

So in my opinon should the Sabres trade Tyler Myers no they should not But they should still lesson to offers the asking price should be high sky high. Why he still has plenty of upside averages 29 min per game plays in every situation and once chara hangs up the skates he will be a one of a kind.

We're not trading for anyone named "Sven", on principle dammit. K. Russell was great in "Escape from New York" and "The Thing" but I think we're gonna stick with Myers even though he laid an egg with "The Love Guru" (though no one actually watched this movie...).

If Myers is moved to Detroit, Mantha would have to involved. Sabres price on Myers is high and a package of 3/4th liners just won't cut it.
