Promote from within the organization maybe? Poll the players? At this point things cannot possibly get worse - bezz44

Should we start talking about our impending goalie controversy now and give the Oilers a break?
Is Miller going to play back to back or is Lack going to get a game in this weekend?

Mactavish is not the problem. Lowe is the problem. I don't think Mac is able to do his job. He is just another scapegoat\patsy of Lowe's. I don't know what Lowe has on Katy but it must be pretty bad if he keeps promoting that idiot. Soon Lowe will be promoted again as Transcontinental General to the house of Katy and firing all his support staff stating they were ineffective at their job meanwhile he is not letting them do it. |

I was just perusing the CDC site and someone posted that Miller sees the game on such a higher level compared to Lu and Lack...
Still think there will be some growing pains with Miller and this market. and still prefer Lack over him too. But have to remind myself he is on our team so I should hope for the best for him and the team. And see him having a bad game and deflecting the blame onto others... Don't know if I am a realist or pessimist. |

As far as team building goes. I think that the players need to be close but not that close. Maybe its because I am kind of a lone wolf but f@ck me you smell the other guys jock strap enough as it is you don't need to go out as a group all the time. Cult BS. This team has already been together for so long the can probably tell the difference from each others farts already. I have my own personal intrests as I am sure they do. We a force fed way to much of the "team building" crap. |

There is a fine line in there for sure.
Was it yesterdays or other blog about how few days off NHL players get a month... guessing these exercises/stunts/diversions are not just about team building but lightening the mood too since they spend so much time together.
Can't imagine what it is like when you have a cancer in the room - as if it is a bad smell that lingers and doesn't go away. |

Looking at that Oilers blog I keep thinking there should be a limit to how many # 1 picks an organization could have over a period of time or not allowed to get #1 picks in consecutive years in the lottery system.
With the exception being they can trade for that pick.
I don't think they want to tank but I have no idea what they are doing to keep from being good.
edit... sorry for bringing up the Oilers again, it's like watching a train wreck. |

He is seemingly better at shootouts than Lu, I will give him that - bezz44
I heard yesterday that the Canuck goalies last year led the league in SO SV% but were 29th in goals scored during the SO...... Eddie only let in 4 goals and went 3-3, Miller let in 10 and went 6-3....cray cray |

I find it ridiculous that they didn't address this need during the off-season. Even picking up a guy like Ebbett, Schroeder, Ryan Carter, Colin Fraser, Dalpe would go a long way in providing the young guys with some insulation. - belcherbd
This is what boggles my mind as well. The team trades away their centers and does not sign anyone in the free agency. Only 1 legitimate top 6 center that has never played more then 60 games in a season and a 4th line C in Gordon. There were a glut of centers available in UFA market, then there were centers available on cap strapped teams instead the team opted to gamble on draft. My question is what if Florida and Buff opted to pick Reinhart and Bennet, would Edm still have taken Draisaitl knowing Ekbald was still on the board? |

Eddie was very good last year. I don't think anyone other than Higgins or Santo scored |

Wasn't there a game when one of the Sedins was given the nod and he decked himself out of his jock and never got a shot away? |

maybe all time, I don't know those stats but they were both .727% last year. Lou wasn't that bad, this team has never had the goal support for it tho. |

There's a thread explaining it. They're draft picks that were in trades at the draft. Nucker couldn't process them at the time because the 2015 picks weren't available until the new season started
Edit: here's the thread from the draft http://www.hockeybuzz.com...120102&page=last#13392572 |

You are giving the Sedins too much credit WRT shootout skills I could at least understand if he sharted and panicked, but I don't think that stench came from his pants I think they just plain stink at the shootout |

Yeah, I was only musing that JT kept doing the same thing and the results never changed, funny how that works. At least AV would put a guy out there on a hunch, even if it was a rotten hunch. |
