I've been generally supportive of MacTs moves, though the list of issues is growing. - BigDre
I am of mixed emotion, but in several respects he has failed.
Gagner: Sure he needed to go and Purcell is a good player, but he completely failed to replace him with an adequate center.
They really needed to get a top 6 center and have failed. It is basically too late now
Petry: Basically Petry is gone, although he is arguably our best D. I don't think they can keep him now.
All defencemen he has signed: None so far have lived up to expectation. Ference is awful, Nikitin is at the very least severely overpaid (which I am ok with if he is half decent). Fayne might be the best signing but we will have to wait on that. Grebeshkov and other experiments also come to mind as terrible moves.
Pouliout also looks like a massive overpayment, at least he can play half decent, albeit as a 3rd line winger
I also don't agree with letting Fedun walk.
The Tkachev situation was incompetence.
His drafting history has not been great at all, I don't think the later round picks of overage players from subpar leagues is going to pan out.
Perron, Fasth, and Scrivens stand out as his best moves thus far but I am not convinced that good is better than the rest. |

Hendo, were all little pissed off right now, but this was a Jabroni blog . Don't make me read an overly optimistic James Tanner blog to cheer me up. - Jeropotato
Is a reality Blog, the way i see it, this 3 games is just not only 3 games is 85 games so far as continuation from last season, meaning nothing have change even with the new players additions,I think you know where I put the blame. |

This is ugly. Not a single coaching move has made any sense at all UNTILL you ask if this team is tanking on purpose. If that is the case then I have to question following this team anymore. It goes against everything sport is supposed to represent. I have supported Eakins but I can't get behind a single move the man has made this year. Just mind boggling. |

Eric Stall for ebs and petry maybe? Would that be so terrible? - benmacw
I'd happily do it. Want a Tim Gleason or J.M. Liles to sweeten the deal? |

oils aren't TRYING to tank... they are just a horrendous team. Obviously them getting top picks every year isn't working and if they get another top pick, he will end up just being another victim of being on this team.
I am pissed because I turned down 3 huge offers for Schultz in the past 2 years in my keeper league and now I may be forced to outright drop him because he is a liability on my team!!!grrrrr |

It's way way too late to be tanking on purpose.
Eberle is freaking 24 years old now.

MacT have made some good calls as a GM but right now personally his worst call is Eakins....Again this 3 Games is not just 3 games for me is 85 Games with Eakins and counting with nothing good to talk about or any improvement at all even with some new players. |

This was hilarious:
Question: With Eberle out, why isn't Yakupov on the top line and with RNH out, why isn't Hall playing centre? - James_Tanner
Hall can't play centre!!! We seen that last year. |

agreed, we also need a coach - oilstone
Do you really want to dismiss the coach so quickly....again??!
I watched our team play with 2 new coaches for each of the last two seasons and it was a nightmare, a good coach is important but so is chemistry and stability in that position, neither of which comes without patience |

I also like Mac T's moves. Eakins may be a patsy. Maybe Katzman wants McDavid and his shiny new arena to come together at the same time and give the Oil their first playoff birth. He looks like the big E-town hero paid for by taxpayer money and the collective ulcers of all us poor long suffering Oil fans. |

How quickly the optimism goes... give the Oilers two games. Against Arizona and the Canucks the Oilers could get two wins. Suddenly that puts the team 2-2-1. Let's put down the pitchforks for now - freelancer

On the defense I'm a bit confused. I was under the impression Ramsay was taking over the defense however the "system" seems identical to last year - freelancer

Oils coaches always seem to be the excuse amongst the fans... They are just a bad team and if they get a new coach AGAIN, this team will be a complete trainwreck. Ive never seen the coaches being an excuse soooo much on a team in the past few years. Eakins isn't sitting out guys or not playing them because he is a "bad" coach.. its cause those players are playing like crap and need to sit. This whole team is getting too used to losing and its a shame to see all these high picks fail(even though the rest of the GM's in the NHL are extremely happy seeing all this talent go to waste on 1 team) |

If they trade Petry at this point MacTavish needs to go as well as the coach. Just start over with this organization, get some brand new blood into the organization. - Peterg
They just did that!
