underpayment for staal. what do they want with lander? essentially that's straight up for eberle.
overpay for bogosian.
rather myers anyway - hugefemale dog77
I've went into the Hurricanes forum and asked and they gauge it as a fair straight up trade. Not saying it's fair IRL, but they gave it the green light. Lander is merely a body to fill in at C. With Lindholm and Rask, they also have a nice Swedish C core developing that he might be able to find a home in.
Bogosian is more proven than Myers IMO. He's a great defensive Dman. Don't know what Myers has done to be so much more valuable than him. |

Has MacT said Eakins is a future Jack Adams Winner, or did he learn his damn lesson when he said Schultz is a future Norris Winner? |

his ceiling is higher no doubt. but you're not saying murray is already better than boychuk are you? - hugefemale dog77
no but im saying that kekalainen credits Murray with being with being the leader of their defense and a steadying force for their team
the oilers dont have that , ferrence was brought here to be that but he's failed miserably
i was just using Boychuck as an example of how having a steadying force on D can change the dynamic |

Any of those guys on D would be an improvment on what we had now but I do like the Stall deal but do you think he would want to play for the oilers? |

yakupov and Schultz
staal
1st rounder, nikitin,
myers - hugefemale dog77
roster dumps that could help both teams
ramo/stajan/glenX/baert for eberle/fasth/2015 1st (depending on GlenX)
also cap possible
glenx/stajan gives options as a 2nd line, and a bit more grit.
Baert could help out on the lw in the future. Ramo gives a goalie to help scrivens
eberle....gives cgy a RW. Fasth....just gives hiller a backup for the year. And that pick is what it is. Edmonton doesn't need another pick.
Chuck in a D from Cgy like russel or Wideman for another part, and we're building the new battle of alberta
(ok never gonna happen) |

eberle straight up for staal?
is this just cause they think he'll come back??
ok sure. done
im not sure bogosian is a GREAT anything. solid though. I can agree hes more proven I suppose, but hes certainly had his struggles as well.
myers just has a much higher ceiling imo. a giant that can skate.
I will admit I still have stars in my eyes from his rookie year in the playoffs. it was ridiculous how dominant he was. like chara. except a better skater. by all accounts hes turning it around nicely, but I wonder why he took steps back in the first place? |

do u have a link to jarmo saying murray is the "leader of their defence"
over tyutin, wiz, Johnson etc? already?
he doesn't even get the big minutes or dominate without wiz at his side.
crazy
but yes, I agree that boychuk would be helping us. how much im not sure. but he'd be our best d and can play at both ends of the ice |

not interested in baert or ramo.
so essentially we're giving this years first, eberle, and our most talented goalie for matt stajan (whos solid no doubt. but.....) and glenx?

It was on tsn's blue jacket preview
Jatmo talked about how wizniewski is able to play his game because Murray is so steady where before Wizniewski had to curtail his creativity because he'd get exposed on D too often.
Murray allows wiz to be himself with his steady play and consistent reads |

I think it's cause they don't think he'll resign with them. They're an organization stuck in mediocrity so I wouldn't blame him. I don't think he'd ever want to play for the Oilers, but you know, this is fantasy land. Everything CAN happen here
I guess it's just a difference of approach. I wouldn't mind Myers, but I question how much of an improvement his defensive game would be on the guys we're moving. He doesn't exactly have a flawless history in the defensive end. Bogosian, on the other hand, has proven he can effectively play top-3 minutes on a middling team and play a simple defensive game. I think we need that more than high ceiling right now. Nurse and Klefbom need someone to learn from and I see Bogosian as a good option for that. May not be available, but (frank) it.
My one issue with that trade is that we lose our only dynamic puck-mover and replace him with a primarily defensive guy. In a perfect world, we could also squeeze a guy like Yandle out of Phoenix. |

The thing I don't understand about the Oilers is, with Lowe and MacTavish in charge, how they refuse to make a core-shaking trade.
I'm not saying they should get screwed in the trade, get pennies on the dollar.
But those guys have been around enough to know better -- it was said earlier, but it won't fix itself. Sometimes, you have to acknowledge that you don't need worse players, but different players.
Find the value for Eberle, and move him for a good, comparable defenseman. Move Yakupov for a fair return, in a good deal for a young, solid center.
I'm not saying give them away, or lose the deals. But MacTavish has to see that these pieces don't fit. You have to break this core up -- not because they are awful players, but because you need different players. |

so you'd send over the schenns for eberle/yakpov

It doesn't have to be the Schenns -- the last thing I want to do is say my favorite team is who the Oilers should trade with. But there are 29 other teams -- there has to be a deal out there that changes the complexion of this team that is fair.
There has to be. The Oilers, just need to be willing to find that deal, and pull the trigger.

For instance, someone suggested earlier Eberle-plus for Yandle and Vermette. Just a suggestion, not a rumor.
But Haggle out the peripherals, and do the deal -- because it is a good deal, particularly if Edmonton gets another young piece or pick back. You make sure whoever you get back is signed, because Eberle is, and change the complexion of the team. Not with worse players, but different ones |
