I'm 100% against firing Eakins.
Petry ought to be playing though. The most reasonable explanation is that they almost sent a trade through yesterday. which of course I have mixed feelings about. |

I'm saying that MacT has caused us big problems when as a Rookie GM he actually thought he hit the jackpot by hiring Eakins, an unproven, trap-style coach, just because the Toronto media were lobbying for the Leafs to sign him. Then MacT went after Clarkson---. anyway, as much as I liked McT as a player, I knew the odds of success with both a rookie GM AND coach were steep, but my biggest concern was that our young players needed an experienced leadership group and please, nothing more from Lowe.
I'm convinced that Eakins really doesn't know what to do and that the players give him zero credibility, so he's got to go. His total lack of preparation for the season and his actions since then only reinforce my feelings. |

They have to be shopping Petry.... Only explanation. Now here is what scares me. At some point this year what happens if one of the kids pulls the cord and asks for a trade? When is enough enough? Cause I was litterally raised on this team. I have oil in my blood. I simply do not have a choice but to love this team. But even babies raised by wolves know exactly when they're being used. |

Didn't MacT only interview one coach? If Eakins goes one would think the GM is not far behind. |

it really won't. If we blame our problems on another coach, then we might as well trade Hall, Nuge, Ebs, etc and build around Draisaitl. If we fire another coach, it's not happening with that group. |

MacT have made some good calls as a GM but right now personally his worst call is Eakins....Again this 3 Games is not just 3 games for me is 85 Games with Eakins and counting with nothing good to talk about or any improvement at all even with some new players. - AlEx_OiL
Eakins was a mistake, after a year where Kruger had made some progress, but adding depth to the bottom half of the line up while leaving the top half alone, despite huge holes at D and centre, and hoping that prospects with zero NHL games could fill the holes is also pretty egregious.
Still, it is only three games in, and they probably deserved a better fate in their first two games. Last night was ugly. |

They interviewed a few, the issue was they were looking for an associate originally. Then Eakins blew their socks off and they just scrapped that idea.
They actually offered the position to someone that went to TB, believe from VAN. |

Too early to throw in the towel. String a couple of W's together and you are right back. PHO can be had, VAN defence sucks. |

I'm not throwing in the towel, quite the opposite. If Edmonton plays a 60 minute effort of their style of play from the first two games and doesn't try to make too many changes, we will have our best season in 5 years. |

With Petry in the linup they gave up 5 goals then 4. Without him they gave up 6. Not arguing he is one of our best defenders, just that if moving him brings in a more solid player up front, doesn't appear to be hurting the defense too much, but again this is only after a 3 game sample. |
