Hahaha....I just don't see Hall as a good leader i.e. Toews, Bergeron etc. More of a secondary type personality.
Not saying they should have drafted Seguin at all, but if you could move him for say a Bergeron type player would you do it? - The-O-G
You spend time in the Oulers locker room? How the (frank) did you come up with that? |

Hall for Bergeron? It's a soft No...our centre situation is so dire, but with Nuge and Drai in the pipeline it seems like investing in a 3rd top 6 C is a little frivolous.
Nuge or Drai would be on the table if I'm the Oilers trying to keep Hall and add Bergeron though. - Morris
You're right, this is probably a more likely scenario.
I guess I didn't necessarily mean Bergeron specifically, but a guy like him, with the same leadership qualities/intangibles etc.
If it was for a similar player, but a winger...then would you do it? |

Okay, so finishing Bottom 7th every year since 2010 is good? Dude (frank) off. We need something big here. Hall is a great player, but is he helping the team much? Nah. Does his points contribute to winning? Nah. The reason we want him is because he puts up 80 points a year. Does it contribute to success no. - Oilers4Life14
Ok so we struggle to score as it is, so what possible deal can we get where we end up better?? Name a deal where a star player was dealt for a bunch of parts and it worked out? |

Vermette would be a strong target, good two-way player, decent size, faceoff beast and a legit 2LC as well. |

I didn't come up with that...I just asked the question.
Everyone just says, don't trade hall, there's no point, yada yada yada. Somehow none of this is his fault cause he gets points hahaha. |

Gretzky's trade. We gave up the best player in the world, yet still managed too win a cup a year later.
And the likely hood of a star player ever getting traded is so low. Has it even happened in the past 10 years?? |

We won the cup despite that trade. It helped that we had one of the greatest teams ever intact. Hossa, Kovalchuk off the top of my head |

Helped Columbus
Didn't effect Boston much. |

You asked if any star players have been traded, not what it did. |

And who got the best of all of these trades?
Boston was terrible after trading Joe
Weve sucked since Pronger
Carter and Richards won cups while philly has been mediocre
St.Louis goes to the Finals and TB swept first round
B.Richards goes to finals, dallas mediocre. |

helped san jose a ton. didnt hurt boston that much going forward.
la and philly both did well imo and got what they were basically looking for.
whatever team pronger went to won the trade.
lightning and the rangers both did reasonably well imo |

Difference of opinion.
Kovalchuk and Hossa trades sure helped Thrashers/Jets though |

i think columbus made out like bandits. certainly a better squad with dubinsky, anisimov, erixon and a first rounder.
ur point has validity though.
certainly a risk |

I think they got very lucky with that haul and how the team started to click after that. History seems to show that this is more of an outlier. And when you go over that list of stars traded and see how many have cups or appearances and most of the others continued onto mediocrity or worse after it doesnt make trading Hall appealing |

Ya I've been a Vermette fan from his Ottawa days.
He'd be a great fit. I'd say ideally he's a 3C with some special teams work. But the Oilers could use him at 2C no problem. |

it really won't. If we blame our problems on another coach, then we might as well trade Hall, Nuge, Ebs, etc and build around Draisaitl. If we fire another coach, it's not happening with that group. - Morris
Coach to me still a problem and I have say this before, that First Line is not going to work with all those 3,Eberle needs to be moved, and replace him with a bigger winger. |
