Why hasn't the goalie coach been fired yet?

Maybe Mike Babcock will be looking for a challenge this off season when his contract is up in Detroit, not sure if he is going to resign with the wings.

Why hasn't our defensive coach been fired yet?

I have painfully watched the last couple Oiler games...its even worse then watching Flyer games these days....hate to disagree with so many, but the reason this team sucks is not because of Coaching....A lot of those players suck.....who cares if your drafted in the top 5 if your game doesn't translate to the NHL....most great young players have other players to teach them the ropes...guys with similar skill sets...there's no solid base of veterans in Edmonton....It may have worked for Gretzky, Messier and Coffey but has been a dreadful failure with this crew....
It's time for the GM to step up and actually try to build a team instead of collecting high draft picks and hoping....Oiler fans deserve better.

because Craig Ramsey has a proven track record as a defensive coach in this league over the last two decades.

I have painfully watched the last couple Oiler games...its even worse the watching Flyer games these days....hate to disagree with so many, but the reason this team sucks is not because of Coaching....A lot of those players suck.....who cares if your drafted in the top 5 if your game doesn't translate to the NHL....most great young players have other players to teach them the ropes...guys with similar skill sets...there's no solid base of veterans in Edmonton....It may have worked for Gretzky, Messier and Coffey but has been a dreadful failure with this crew....

Patrick Roy would have a tough time looking good on this team. Goalies haven't been great, but I don't think they're really the problem.

Dybnyk was looking solid, then the offseason happened and he poop the bed last year. Scrivens and Fasth both looked good at the end of last season, then, they have stated to poop the bed.

Sigh....MacT has been doing what he can. Our previous GM was a slimy weasel that didn't do much of anything.

there are obvious pieces that don't fit.....I would never trade Hall....I would never trade RNH....after that all bets are off. It's not that there is a lack of talent....it's how it fits....Your GM blows...and so did the guy before him.

It wouldn't be the worst idea. Except it would be awful for the fans. In all seriousness, Hall aside, who on this team (Maybe LD) can stack up against 5-7 of the Western teams? Imagine, for one minute, the Oilers made the playoffs, who on the team will get through a 5/6/7 game series against LA, ANA, MIN, STL, CHI, ARI, SJ (not so much). The poor kids will be killed. Easiest thing for the Oilers to do is, apply to the NHL to play in the East and battle for the 8th spot with the rest of the crap we have here.

They did, you are correct. However, fundamentally and skill wise they are not good goalies. Playing on your head, versus being an actual good goalie are two different things.

I'm in the fortunate position, as a Leafs fan, to spot what a below average goaltender really looks like.

Ramsey won a cup in Tbay with a young D crew.....he taught guys like Richards, Lecavalier and St. Louis to play a better defensive game....he was in Boston the year before they won the cup and really helped turn that squad around defensively and of course he was in Philly in 2001 when they were within a game of reaching the cup..(until Stevens decked Lindros). He was a top defensive player in that league for many years...he gets it.

Personally, I just think they need to tweak the organization. Is Eakins the right guy? I don't like him much as a coach, but that doesn't speak towards his abilities. If I were Katz, I would clean house in upper management, not because I hate Kevin Lowe or MacT, but because they haven't gotten the job done.

If the Oilers end up as bottom feeders once again, it's obviously the right time to do it. If they could draft in the top 3 this year, I highly doubt their pick would be a disappointment.

Lastly, I just think everyone needs to chill out. 0-4 is a crappy start yes, but it's not the Wayne Gretzky trade. Quit listening to all the media pundits who tirelessly dissect the Oiler's rebuild against a gold standard that doesn't exist. Pittsburgh and Chicago sort of mirrored each other in how each franchise rebuilt, but that doesn't mean that it was all done according to plan. These things obviously take time and a whole lot of trial and error.
