if after 9 games, this team is still a poop show, send leon down and for (frank)s sake, trade for an NHL centre.
Leon has done some really nice things, but why expose him to this poop. Same with nurse. Nurse has made some nice plays and hits, not afraid to shoot but also looks like a rookie dman.
I honestlh can't tell if this is a chemistry thing due to a lot of roster turnover in the year or the team is this (frank)ing bad. I hate thinking we are in tank mode 4 games in (not that we are intentionally losing) but (frank) it's the same thing year after year after year.
If we do in fact get in the McDavid/eichel sweepstakes (I bet the NHL doesn't allow that behind the scenes) I'm trading nuge and eberle for bigger players. I keep leon because he is meant for the west and looks good with "infinirebuild is his fault" yakupov |

How would you feel if a guy like Feaster was your gm? At least you'd have somewhat of a goaltender in your system. |

So you would trade Draisaitl? - Misterbator
No...I guess you could add Nurse to that list as well....This team has huge assets ...and some missed place pieces......Youth is great...but a team full of youth doesn't work.

Personally, I just think they need to tweak the organization. Is Eakins the right guy? I don't like him much as a coach, but that doesn't speak towards his abilities. If I were Katz, I would clean house in upper management, not because I hate Kevin Lowe or MacT, but because they haven't gotten the job done.
If the Oilers end up as bottom feeders once again, it's obviously the right time to do it. If they could draft in the top 3 this year, I highly doubt their pick would be a disappointment.
Lastly, I just think everyone needs to chill out. 0-4 is a crappy start yes, but it's not the Wayne Gretzky trade. Quit listening to all the media pundits who tirelessly dissect the Oiler's rebuild against a gold standard that doesn't exist. Pittsburgh and Chicago sort of mirrored each other in how each franchise rebuilt, but that doesn't mean that it was all done according to plan. These things obviously take time and a whole lot of trial and error.
p.s. Fire that fricken coach already - Misterbator
It's not even a bronze standard rebuild though.
Hey, I'm not preaching to the fans, they know the issues as well, probably more than we do.
At what point do you stop saying, calm down, it's only 0-11. (not you, the royal you)
It's not even the start of this season, it's the fact, can anyone see any tangible improvement from 5 years back?
Drafting McDavid won't help much either. When you have Fasth and Scrivens as your goalies and Nikitin, Fayne, Ference, Petry (not too bad) and the others as your D, 4/5 good forwards aren't going to help much.
Added to that a recycling of bottom 6 forwards, there seems to be no real plan. Hopefully, Nurse, Mancirin and Klefblom are really really good, because if not, how do you improve the D?
With the exception of Hall, no one really seems to give a (frank), which is worrisome. And the number 1 centre is starting to look a bit injury prone. He's missing a good chunk of games in his career already. |

Eichel has 4 in 1 |

how Kevin Lowe still has a job in the club's hockey operations department, let alone pretty much the top job, is mystifying. the old guard influence cannot possibly run that deep.
also, in terms of the Pitts/Chicago comparison, how can you say it doesn't exist? they made the right draft choices high in the first, and found gems like Keith and Letang outside the first. you could argue that Edmonton made the wrong call on all 3 of their #1 picks. |

It's easy for me to say but this is exactly what I'd do. Get Nurse and LD the hell out of there ASAP.
This is truly the year to tank (tough for the fans). I wish the Leafs would.
if you are in the running for McDavid or Eichel (unfortunately I think you are) trade RNH and Eberle (neither) of which are built for the West. Trade them for grinder type forwards (think Dustin Brown, Callahan types). You may lose natural talent, but I'd bet you win more games |

Can't say this is much of a surprise... Anyone outside of Edmonton knew that Scrivens + Fasth weren't much of an upgrade over Dubnyk. Scrivens couldn't even beat James Reimer out of the #1 goalie position in TO, he's the backups backup at best.
Tanking for McDavid... Sure sounds an awful lot like Tanking for Hall... Tanking for Nugent-Hopkins... Tanking for Yakupov.
There has to be a better strategy than tanking for the next Wayne Gretzky. You need to move on. Trade some of the bozo's for some experienced players that care about winning. |

I don't think anything happens until after our homestead. If we get .900 goaltending I'd bet we win 5 of 7. Looks to much like the beginning of last season, scoring enough goals to win but goaltending hasn't been able to make a big save |
