MacT needs to make some trades and then give Eakins some time with REAL NHL players, and if he still struggles then we fire him and make Ramsay the intermediate coach and go shopping in the off-season. - Dangles13

FFS- how many other coaches introduce rookies into their line up- saying we need more NHL players year after year is getting old...every year we revamp the team by bringing in 3 or more players and we overpay for them.. |

That is a fragile bunch out there. I dont think a big trade wakes them up as it was said. Zero confidence or cockiness which is what this team needs or has if they win a bit. |

Need to make a change of some kind soon. As much as I like Draisaitl & Nurse, they need some time away from this circus to develop properly. Hall is awesome he just can't carry this team alone. Give up some talent and hopefully get the right pieces back on D. |

Give one of the coaches a legit top pairing d-man? Most nights all we have is a bunch of #4's at best playing. |

I don't think he ever meant he was a Norris right now. |

Unless you draft a generational talent, which you haven't, this type of rebuild can take upwards of ten years. Look at the Islanders, you are what you are, they've been drafting high for around ten years. - LeftCoaster completely agree. We have just now acquired the necessary core talent (we hope). Hall, Nuge, Ebs, Perron, Yakapov, Marincin, Klefbom, Draisatle, Petry, Nurse. We still dont have #1 and #2 defensemen, but that could be done through FA when the time is right. We wont even start to be considered a top team until everyone on this list is over 25 years of age. That is 7 years. I say we are at least 5 years away from being a decent team and 7-8 years away from a cup contender. We drafted our defencemen last, that was the problem, or didn't draft them at all. Should have been murray over yak, but thats likely a wash. Should not have signed Ferrence, not traded Gilbert, gave hall the C, kept Kruger. Mac T has done alot, but it seems like 55% of his moves are bad for the team. |

I have painfully watched the last couple Oiler games...its even worse then watching Flyer games these days....hate to disagree with so many, but the reason this team sucks is not because of Coaching....A lot of those players suck.....who cares if your drafted in the top 5 if your game doesn't translate to the NHL....most great young players have other players to teach them the ropes...guys with similar skill sets...there's no solid base of veterans in Edmonton....It may have worked for Gretzky, Messier and Coffey but has been a dreadful failure with this crew....
It's time for the GM to step up and actually try to build a team instead of collecting high draft picks and hoping....Oiler fans deserve better. - landros 2
So ur suggesting hall Sucks?
Nuge wasn't playing
Draisaitl is 18

Ference hasn't played very good but that's hard to put on MacT, he was was a top 4 on a playoff team and now he should be a 6 dman.
Gilbert really wasn't that big of a loss, remember Minnie did buy him out. Hall doesn't need the C at this stage of his career, leaders will lead regardless of what a tiny piece of cloth says. I would rather have kept Renney over Krueger or Eakins. |

you nailed this part - oilstone and I still think all draft picks should have been sent back to junior for 1 year followed by a year in the AHL, with perhaps the exception of Taylor Hall. Tyler Toffoli was drafted in the second round then proceeded to score 57 goals the next year and was STILL sent back to junior again, where he then scored 52 goals. Didn't seem to hurt his development. Stauff was talking about this. Other teams are so much better at developing prospects. If you are projected to be a top 6 player in the NHL you should be able to score 25-30 goals in the AHL first before you are considered as a callup. I wonder what ganger would be like now if the oilers would have done that with him....wasn't he in the NHL at 17? That is crazy. What were we thinking. |

I think Hall is a generational player. Unfortunately, oil management can't seem to surround this guy with the support he needs.
The first 8 years of Hall's career is going to be a huge waste of time. Feel sorry for the kid. |

NIkitin had a good game all while playing 25 minutes. Petry and Ference were the holes on defense last night,.
Our system was working yesterday. We were outplaying ARI badly at one point. Bad goals hurt us again. - Lahey
The system can work, but we do not have the players to have it work consistently.one day we will I hope, but we do not right now.the team has obviously chose to go with it until those players arrive and to get those players through the draft primarily.Nikitin played good for him last night, but he is not good for our system.to slow and not quick enough in his decision making. |

What would you prefer, a bunch of fanboy talk? A review of the team advance stats scores? Maybe another discussion on potential? Or an in-depth look at this year's draft class?
The blogger has addressed this awful start to the season with a bit of comedy. I think it's appropriate considering the quality of play we've witnessed so far.
All the people who come into this thread and post negative comments should walk the walk and post their own blog about this mess.
