If you could have any one player from the 1994 draft for the duration of their career, who would you take?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994_NHL_Entry_Draft - jmatchett383
Brett Lindros, no doubt.
Edit: Lizzate, per usual. Man, that first round is hard to look at. |

Since we were talking about Iron Mike before, a really fantastic piece about Keenan's first year in Russia from Grantland:

(this was written right before Metallurg won the championship.) - Tomahawk
The king Keenan bible.... Geez what a long article
Unreal how he wins a cup in ny and is fired ...
Guys who complained about him, like Eddie olcyk and roenick are crybaby meatheads |

Have we depleted our prospect base and acquired a top-end defenseman yet?
Has Akeson become a defensive-minded shutdown energy-line winger yet? |

That's not a problem, everyone of them is capable of doing what is asked. - MJL
It's a system that puts a lot of pressure on the C's to cover a lot of ice and to be defensively accomplished -- on a team that has a shortage of two-way, rangey centers.
I have no problem at all if this is the system they plan on running with when Hexy's finished molding the roster to look more like the Kings/Bruins, when Coots has Laughton (or whoever else) to play Kelly to his Bergeron, Stoll to his Richards.
But in the meantime, while the roster is full of imperfect fits and kids that need to develop, I'd hope he could be a little more accommodating and flexible... if not, he's really no better than Lavi. |

pronger is just another reason why the union and nhl need to take a hard look at the 35 and over contract when it comes to actually injured players not able to play again and should be able to retire and wipe clean the contract/cap hit. I understand the nhl doesnt want teams to cirumvent the salary cap by signing long term contracts with players of that age group to bring down the yearly cap hit and then retire earlier then what the contract was for, but injuries that are career threatening need to be looked at. - jmdodgeser4
As long as it isn't a pre-existing injury/chronic condition that was already active before the contract. (Like a guy has had 5 shoulder surgeries, is ok to play, and then gets a career-ending shoulder injury, for example.)

Akeson was second only to Giroux in PTS per 60 mins during the Rangers series last season (a small sample size, but still about twice what we have so far this season, where he's playing less minutes with less skilled mates). What does that tell you?
Akeson, not unlike G, is a playmaker/passer first and foremost. Rinaldo has been having more than twice as many shots per game this season vs. last season. What does that tell you? - exlund
wow congrats he did something once in his career which he hasn't replicated yet
you know there are many players that have played well once and have done jack poop ever since |

You've got Raffl, Umberger, and Read down the left side... why not LW lock?
Not that it really matters... anything that gets Coots more oz-starts, allows Schenn to get back to C/RW, and frees Akeson from 4th-line/no-PP purgatory. |
