I posted this on the last blog, but wanted to carry over to the fresh one for folks to see and possibly help out:

Sabres Fan Advantage - new (?) Rewards system with the team. Scan barcodes of tickets, merchandise, etc and enter keywords during broadcasts, social media, etc.

Perhaps we can group together to post these keywords when they're said somewhere so all of us can gain points.

Doesn't even crack the top 50 in this article.

Rated 55 for fantasy purposes in this one.

This one is a top 14 but has 17 players that received votes.

he's off to a good start this season, imo...put him on the wings with datsyuk and Zetterberg, et al, and there will be plenty of space for him

Now if you could alter that to have the kid start attacking the lion . It could be labelled Baby Zemgus.

IMO and it's just an IMO but that is bad parenting.

I don't care that the glass is there you willingly put your infant child there for a laugh.

for fantasy purposes, pim and plus/minus are taken into account which, in both cases--58 pim and minus-26 last season--would cause him to land there

He has shown glimpses of what he has to offer and you can see that he's a sponge soaking up his environment, but the simple fact is this, he's not physically ready for the NHL. It's a man's game. The players on that ice are at work. They're busting their asses at a job that pays them more than they'll ever make anywhere else and they're willing to do anything to keep it. That would include laying the body on an underdeveloped, 18 yr. old who just happened to be the second overall pick in June's draft.

If the Sabres are truly committed to player development, they'll send Reinhart back to junior. It's looks to be another rough year in Buffalo, so why expose a kid to a losing environment? Unless you're Zemgus Girgensons who has the physical and mental makeup, being in an environment like that will only hinder player development.

This is all a fair point, but I fail to see how he gets stronger by spending a 4th year in junior. You're right, the NHL is a man's game, but if that's all that he's lacking, sending him to play amongst boys again does very little for him. I would think that the Sabres should take their lumps with him, monitor his workout, health, etc. Will he be in over his head a bit? Probably, but in a year where the expectations are this low, I really don't see it as a detriment. If this were a contending team, it would be a much different story.

Good Blog boos!

One thing I don't agree with is losing Culture. I never have. Culture is changed by getting better players.

Pittsburgh was said to have a bad culture, Chicago as well. Did they just change the culture, or did they just get really good hockey players?

The culture wont change when the Sabres draft McEichel, the talent level will.

But a losing atmosphere could be devastating for a young kids development.

Hence why I wrote for fantasy purposes.

4 regular writers for NHL didn't put him in the top 14 or give him a vote.

Bleacher report didn't have him in the top 50.

Now I could see someone maybe arguing him into the 16-25 range but there are far and away 15 better defensemen at the moment.

Personally, I think that is grossly overstated. There are many stars that started out right in the NHL in a "losing atmosphere". In fact, most of them did. It's the reason those teams had that high of a pick. The only real exception to this rule is MacKinnon.

That's a weak mind then (the player, not knocking you).

If any player lets losing affect him that much, beyond "Damn, we're trying and still can't catch any success", then they're weak-minded and will only thrive in an all-star sort of atmosphere.

it buys the team some time and it gets him out of a losing environment as well as an environment where a opposition player might take his head off

That's a bold statement.

I see his career being very much like Peca. The main difference is that back when Peca played, he was a #1 center and in today's NHL, that isn't enough to be a #1. But I think as a 2/3, he'll have a very successful career. I love watching the kid play. He leaves it all out on the ice, every single game.

Landeskog.

They started out on fire if memory serves me then leveled out. Still ended up with a winning record.
