Thanks for all of the replies. I wasn't expecting so many, so I will reply to all at once, since they seem to share a lot of the same views.
It's no secret that Tampa's D was weak. Besides shoddy goaltending (prior to Bishop), our defense was the achilles heel. Garrison is definitely an upgrade compared to some of the clowns we have used in the recent past. I am surprised he didn't kill a couple of your players during practices with that slapshot. I sure wouldn't stand in front of that shot, no matter how much money you paid me.
Yeah, Luongo does not make Florida a playoff team, and I was surprised to see some people pick Florida to be a dark horse. I want some of what they are smoking. But, Luongo is an upgrade, and I hate to a divisional foe upgrade their goaltending.
I don't know how New Jersey does it. No matter who their coach is, or what players they have on the roster, they have that smothering defense and the ability to sit on a 1-goal lead and make it stand. Brodeur was getting soft and we finally started to solve him and then you send Schneider into the equation and screw everything up for us. I was unsure if Schneider was the real deal, but the more I watch him, the more I am convinced he is going to give us fits every time he starts against us.
As for the Sedins, I wish we played against you guys more often, just so I could watch them play more often. Those flat perfect saucer passes are a delight and they make it look so easy. Imagine Stamkos getting set up with Sedin passes! I can understand any frustration the Vancouver fans must feel at coming so close to a Cup and then watching it fade away. I watched Tampa come close in 2011 during Roloson's last hurrah, and despite having two elite players (Stamkos and St. Louis), we got hosed by Boston - which that last game still seemed hokey to me with not a single penalty call. I'll resist the urge to say the fix was in to keep a small-market team out of the final and increase TV and merchandise revenues by doing so....oops, I did say it. LOL.
Well, at least you guys got rid of Torts.
One last note - after watching Hiller stand on his head against Chicago yesterday, I am glad we don't have him here in the East. Unless that game was a fluke.

Good analysis, but now you have to answer this question, magic Man.
Why do the oilers still suck?, I thought 3 years ago that they would be like Chicago now. |

I was disappointed to see 2/3 of those guys go, not gonna name names
Some fans are *cough*Vantel*cough* more realistic and see them as slightly less than PPG players now that they are in their 30's. Still world class talents though and wonderful human beings - bezz44

What is wrong with Lucic? There is playing with passion and then there is not. I do not know what Roid Rage but I bet it looks similar to what Lucic did tonight against Montreal.
First he disrespected the hand-shake line-up last year and now on game ... what 4, maybe 5... be goes bezerk and flips the double bird to the crowd. I am sure that a lesser name on a lesser team would have gotten a suspension for that act.
And I say "lesser name", not lesser player. I don't think there are many 'lesser players" than Lucic.
Someone on the Bruins needs to take him aside and be sure his head is on straight.
As many of you in Vancouver watched him on the Giants... he is certainly not the same guy. People change, of course... but he has gone way too far. It's beyond stupid to flip the bird to the people paying for the game.
EDIT --- no, he actually pretended to whack off, not give them the bird. May I suggest that he gets a 5 game suspension for Holding The Stick.
May the Ref cam will have a better look! ) |

Whatever, Montreal fans are BRUTAL, shining a laser pointer at Tukka Rask's head is franking garbage. Montreal should of gotten a bench penalty for that. |

Twitter/the score is reporting that NHL is reviewing Lucic's actions.
And Lulic..... if, IF, there is a building not to mocking raise the cup... it's montreal. Besides, Lucic acts like the cup is still theirs and not three years ago.
His head is just not on right. |

I see that as two separate things. Each egregious but hardly equal. Sportsnet says the fan was caught and facing lifetime ban and criminal charges. |

The Oilers still suck because they brought in Teddy Purcell. Nice guy off the ice, but cannot find the back of the net with a guide dog. If Edmonton's idea of improving in the off-season is Pouilot and Purcell, then they need a new GM.
