Keep in mind, this is the first game vs the Habs since he threatened Emelin/Weise in the handshake line last spring, too. - Tomahawk
I'm sure Jack Edwards was outraged at the call. |

Yeah. I think he has a plan. I think it is the whole reason we haven't seen any of the prospects make the team or called up. Let them play in Allentown together and then if this team is out move some of the pieces at the TDL. At that time teams going into the playoffs usually make dumb deals so they could possibly get some nice assets.
Just think if a team like WPG was going on a run and close to a playoff a spot. They might part with pcks or prospects or both for a player like Luke Schenn or Grossmann for size and expierence. Would you take Burmistrov and a 3rd round pick for Grossmann? I probably would. Not saying it would happen but you can usually make things happen when a teams are despeate to get o the playoffs. - J35Bacher
I'm a big fan of Burmi... great skater, smart, and really good defensively and can PK. |

I'm saying all of the above. Not sold Berube is a good coach, but he definitely has a bad hand - Jsaquella
I could see Hextall checking in on Babcock if he doesn't get a deal. Also I actually could see him looking into his LA stomping grounds. Maybe a guy like Stevens. |

Think he would come back? He's a center and there wouldn't be that much room for him unless he can play wing. |

there's a gif roaming around on the internet already of course - -davies-
Lucic is a good player, but it amazes me that he gets away with so much. Creaming Ryan Miller and getting a slap on the wrist when you know he did it on purpose... His antics in the handhsake line last year, then his behaviour last night. ..(which I am sure will get glossed over). If he was a Flyer, they'd be calling to revoke the franchise. |

This.
A guy who's only head coached one full season of minor pro hockey, and who's likely on nobody else's radar...what's the rush to get him locked up long term? |

They were 1 game , 1 goal away from beating NYR last year. I know they were not a complete team but I was hoping they wouldn't " step back" as they did have a good team last year.
It's great to know the GM will show patience with the younger players but he can still go out and make deals to improve the hockey team. - 3flyerkids
I stand by my
opinion that some tweaking of the roster is in order. Addition by subtraction perhaps, like concrete footed defenseman that constantly make dumb plays moved for draft picks perhaps. |

I like him too. Think he got a little raw deal in WPG. didn't get any top 6 mintues an was used mostly as a defensive player.
I do thinkk this is the year the Flyers make some smart moves and shedd pieces instead of buying rentals. I mean I look back at some previous TDL moves and see that things can be had. Guys like Gaudstad fetched 1st rounders because of goiing into the playoffs. I do think we have pieces that teams we want for a playoff run. Just not pieces that work together here. |

I'd think he'd come back if he could go to team he thought would pay/play him. His deal w Ak Bars expires this summer.
He can play all three F positions. |

Even when we have had good coaches, they don't get saved because the GM dealt them a bad hand.
I am certainly in the all of the above category. I wasn't a berube guy at the start. he should have been interim for the year and them see who is available. - nails
I had an open mind, gave Berube a chance. Not a fan of his work this far. He's not clueless, but I am not sold he's ever going to be an exceptional coach. |

He has size, skill and played 200 feet. Would make a nice winger for Couturier or Giroux.
I also would mind a player of Brad Marchands ilk. An in your face player that still provides offense. I know most people hate the guy but he brings it every game and still puts up points. Be nice to find one of those types. |

I think Berube's system is fine, based on what I see around the league -- you can win with it.
Where he does himself no favors is partly with roster selection/usage, and partly having a short deck to deal from - AllInForFlyers
Agreed. Most of my issues are personnel related, rather than tactical. I'd like to see him keep the foot on the gas more with a lead, but at the same time, not sure he's the one guilty there. |

I think the GM has to improve his team. Be patient with youth but I really just don't want this team getting off to another 1-7 or 2-8 start and we keep hearing from coaching and management that " we are getting better each and every game"
Maybe after the 10 game point of the season they will evaluate what they have compared to what they thought they had.

the majority of coaching is selling.
Yeah, you need to develop a plan and do some talent evaluation, but the most important part is selling all of it to the players in a way that they buy into.
My concern for Berube is that he hasn't had much experience, and you need experience to develop multiple ways of making the sell/pitch to the players.
And before someone jumps on me about young coaches have succeeded before.....age does not equal experience. |

How can this be? We've been told repeatedly that all 6 of the Flyers defenders are top-4 players. Therefore, the top 2 players should be in over their heads, the middle 2 should be playing their preferred spot, and the bottom 2 should be excelling. - jmatchett383
Coburn, AMac, Streit are all top 4 Dmen. None are top pairing Dmen except for Coburn if he's paired with an All Star level type |

I think Hextall knows what he has. I think he is just waiting to make some moves.
Also what would you like them to say. You can't say "damn our team sucks". They need to try and build value on some of these plyers. Killing them now doesn't help anything. |
