Jagr would perfect trade Martin straight up and we get a 3rd round pick giving away 5 million contract for 3,500,000 million perfect top 6 winger for geno next year trade for a kessil or ryan or a kesler next year is his last year on his contract
- Palmer117

Enough with the Ryan talk people, no one is trading for bobby ryan. Kessel makes way too much to bring him to Pittsburgh. Why bring in Kesler who has more of an injury history than Malkin and isn't a third line center?

devils don't need defense, they need young offensively skilled forwards. moving jagr for martin only hurts them up front and they look strong enough on the back end. no chance the devils entertain something like this.

good luck to you guys tonight, the real test will be to see if we can limit the damage crosby will do and if we can keep your pp from lighting us up. I'm not sure if we're going to come out strong or if this is going to be a let down. We've played well to start but the pens have been a tough test for us for a while now. hope its a fun one to watch.

Flyers not rolling into town until Wednesday.

Wait... Flyers aren't the biggest threat anymore, passed by the Isles?

I wasn't implying that would be the only player involved, more like the key pieces. If I were making a trade offer right now, it'd be sutter, dumoulin, 2nd for yaks.
- drummer829

Doubt that gets it done. I won't comment on it value-wise as I view Yak as a VERY valuable asset, but I will say with the utmost certainty that that can't be the return for Yak. A 3C (don't care if "he's playing on the 2nd line right now" cause he's a 3C), another mid-level D prospect to add to our collection, and a 2nd for a former 1st overall pick at a low point in value whose presence on our team- along with Perron and Purcell- gives them leeway to trade Eberle (if they'd only entertain trading him) is not good asset management.

They need to use one of them (in combination with their picks [2015 1st included] and prospects) to grab a legit top end Dman.

Your logic isn't flawed, but the decision makers in charge of Edmonton are.

Martin and Sutter for Perron or Yak? Would do Sutter for Purcell as well but the Pens would have to shave another $1.2 mill in cap space.

I wouldn't be so sure. I may not agree with everything they've done this season (Hunt over Marincin, scratching Petry) but MacT has done enough in the department of acquiring solid players without giving up too much. I'm just surprised there hasn't been more talk of looking at Brodziak with how he seems to have fallen out of favour in Minny.

Martin wouldn't ok that, he has a LNTC. And both of those players for one or the other is a gross over payment.

Thanks to how yaks is being used, his value is probably at its lowest. I'm not saying he couldn't get a decent return, but it's obvious other teams are low balling for a reason. Personally, I don't think this team should make any drastic moves until they find out where they sit in the mcdavid sweeps. If they get that 1st pick, then it gives them much more options to make a trade.

Martin, Scuds and Sutter are the roster players to move on the Pens. Martin and Scuds most likely have 0 interest going to EDM, that makes Sutter available. As high as a return EDM wants for Yak, Perron or Eberle if they expect a signed player coming back that has any type of NMC, their ROI is diminished a bit. Prospects and picks are what you can get hassle free from the other team, good players have NMC's.

Sutter, Prospect and a pick is a good return for Yak.

Any modified NTC is removed when traded within the MNTC or LNTC. The only type of movement clause that stays post trade is a full no movement clause.

Last few years were a great team to watch on random mid weekdays against CAR and other weak teams. Yet they seemed to struggle against the top western teams?

Hopefully the changes this year will correct that, but a lot of people saw them as a non playoff team the last few years.

I kind of like that the Crosby unit is scoring their goals while being close to the net. It just means that the offense is being funneled to the net. Where it should be.

I would love if the Penguins could acquire Perron. I am on the fence with Yakupov. I cannot deny his talent. His goal against the Canucks last saturday could have been straight from a Pavel Bure highlight reel, but the mishandling from the Oilers leaves me wondering if it is him or Eakins.

- Ben37

Agree. That's where you win playoff games.

Let's hope so. Yak in a Pens' sweater is my own personal wet dream.

Also, stealing that #RobScuderi4Life hashtag.

Probably won't watch the game because ND has a very big, scummy, sexual abusive fish to fry, but (frank) the Dirty Ders and GO PENS!

Nice biased article lol the Oilers Management isn't as bad as Nonis and Carlyle? What a joke you are if you even slightly believe that, the Leafs have at least improved and competed for the most part, one of the best Pk's in the league over the past few years, and guess who was in the playoffs a couple years ago? The Leafs....You should probably go be a plumber

Winning division titles was very important to the last regime. Placing high value on winning shootouts and overplaying Crosby and Maatta with serious injuries at the tail end of last year when a playoff spot was guaranteed are evidence to that. Mike Johnston has been quoted as saying he is more concerned with playing playoff hockey than trying to win a division title.

How about in overtime or a shootout so we can get a point?

Edit; forget it. I want to keep this streak going. We'll throw you guys a point though
