I remember some of us were ripped a little for suggesting this. - ses111
The sad part is, I think they do practice the pk a lot. Just the wrong way. the cappy way. |

Oh, we'll beat them, because they're one of the few teams that's worse sh*te than us in the defensive end of the rink. We'll beat them 7-3, and everyone will talk about how great we are again.....but we'll still give up 3. - dcb1
I think the issue today was more so offensively. Halak kept them in the game and they had 6 PP and a long 5 on 3. Tonight was on the offense |

It's the whole thing, defensively- no one forces the issue. No one blocks a shot. No one does a d*mn thing except collapse in towards the net, unless we have the puck. Same sh*t, different year. - dcb1
A team that plays in the same city as the Isles and just went to a Cup blocks shots, but no need to copy what works. |

I think it was two and half weeks in and tavares said they didnt practice it yet. It was after teo preseason games. He said they planned on doing it the following week. Then capuano said he made a few tweaks. Tweaks? You need to overhaul that mofo |

Need to be able to win 1-0. Teams that have sh*t talent compared to us win games 1-0, by being aggressive in center ice and their zone, and blocking shots. The first Malkin goal, de Haan stood there like a tree planted right in front of Halak, and Strait tried to....well, sh*t, I don't know what the he11 he was trying to do. It's like their defensive coaching is so bad that it erases the memories of every player, from five years of age until the day they get drafted/acquired by us. It just kills me to watch it. |

If the PK comes through, we win the game 1 - 0.
Weight coaches the PP. Is he also responsible for the PK? |

Thanks. So far Cronin has accomplished nothing. The PK is no better than last year or the year before that... |

I thought at the time the Isles needed to bring in a more proven d type coach. What was so attractive with Cronin? Leafs did not seem to want to keep him. |

Its been a huge weakness for far too long now. It was Thompson last year and now hes coaching the sound tigers which makes zero sense. Hopefully these guys find whats wrong bcs they will go no where with this pk. |

As good as Garth's moves were in the offseason, his coaching moves have been brutal. |

To me, it's all the same- it's the WAY they play defense....they get running around all over the place, no one knows who to take, no one blocks anything- a shot, a pass, nothing. They back in towards the net, collapse, no one hits anybody except for guys like Martin, who run around hitting the wrong guy for no apparent reason. It's just glaringly obvious when the other team has an extra guy on the ice, which makes it even easier to be scored on when the team is playing defense the way the Islanders play defense. |

Cronin was an assistant coach on the Isles 12-15 years ago. So he coached Snow during Snow's playing days. Plus, he knows how to find the Coliseum without Cappy's help. |

It was a bad game. Every team has them but when they come out like that I have a hard time with it. Unprepared or didnt care. One or the other neither of which is good. |

I honestly expected a loss tonight. It was just the way it happened. It's just frustrating because this team does not seem to be coached properly. |

I think they started to buy into their own BS. They tried to play too fancy and it bit them in the butt. I'm upset with the loss, their play, their effort, but I hope they learned something tonight. No more fancy/smanchy no look highlight reel passes. Play ABC hockey and grind it out. Play with snarl! The opportunities will come. |

The power play simply cannot give away those opportunities. As bad as the defense was, ultimately that was their downfall.
But I agree, the defense still needs a TON of work. After the trades, i even said I'm not entirely sold on the defense. I do believe, however, the talent is there, and it comes down to the system. Here in lies the problem. COACHING.
But listen, if this is a one game fluke where the defense wasn't on the right page, I'll take it and move on (I sadly don't think this is the case). I also look at the positives. They played a horrific defensive game, and still only lost 2-1. If our "horrific" nights end in those scores, I'll take it, as long it isn't an on going problem. If we go from 4-1 to 4-5, I better see cappy with his thumb out standing on the side of the highway.
Edit: if it came down to cappy or cronin coaching this team, I take cronin any day of the week. |

This is one of the dumb hypothetical trade scenarios, but what would u realistically have to trade away to get Alex ovechkin on jt and okposos left wing? I always dreamed of that being the top line of our Stanley Cup team.
Multiple 1st round picks, griffin Reinhart, and either dal colle or frans Nielsen?
Obviously this is so dumb, but is entertaining to think about...
You're talking about at least 105+ goals from that line alone for the regular season lol. (JT 30, KO 25, AO 50) |

Even the good teams shat their pants from time to time...the real test is will they bounce back....Grabo effects the depth and other teams defensive match up game....we need him back or Grabs...CMac needs to go and at least call up Lee..... |
