He was fine here last year. The issue is that the entire team just seems to lack chemistry for some reason right now. To say that he's completely ineffective without Tavares is just as false as saying he's just as good without Tavares. He'll figure things out, it's just going to take some time. - HonkFortheGoose
My problem is that he did little to warrant a 5 year deal.
If he was 26-27 id feel a little different. He looks like a 10-15 goal scorer right now.
In fact he hasn't even reached 10 in the 50 games he's played here so far.
That being said, Hodgson is worse and I would see if Edmonton wants him |

That's what I thought. Still doesn't warrant a "5 for 25" deal though. |

Slava Voynov has been suspended indefinitely by the NHL.
Voynov was arrested this morning on charges of domestic violence. The NHL is conducting an investigation into the matter. This comes after the intense scrutiny the NFL faced for its handling of its recent domestic violence incidents, including their initial two-game suspension of Ray Rice, which was seen by many as light under the circumstances.
I was really hoping this would not happen in the NHL, the NHL doesn't get enough "face time" as it is IMO and when it does it's negitive - SABRES 89
you hope it doesn't happen but it is almost unavoidable that it would... but the swift and stern action the league took makes them look better than the NFL right now. |

at this point we are stuck.. and he isnt going to look good playing with hodgson and some other random player.. he needs an elite center or to be on the 3rd line |

To be fair, it's a lot easier to do that when you're not the guinea pig. The precedent has already been dictated by the court of public opinion. |

Let me rephrase, after his first game where he scored 2, he has 9 in his last 49 as a Sabre, and including his time in Minny it looks even worse.
Without Tavares he's not very good |

I know this may sound terrible, but what is it with the Russian players doing stuff like this? Varlamov had his kidnapping/domestic violence incident last year. Now Voynov. - HonkFortheGoose

The few game and goal difference doesn't change the fact that we signed a role player to a 5 year 25 million dollar deal. |

You would think that way, but that's not always what happens.
I'm glad they decided to take the experience the NFL has gone through in the last few months and learn what not to do though. The NHL is notorious for not paying attention and doing something completely opposite.

The entire team is terrible right now.
But of course you're going to come in here and start patting yourself on the back for being right about Moulson.

He had 13 pts in 20 gp with Minny or on pace for a 53 point season.
He had 51 points in 75 gp last year(42 of them without Tavares).
50 point players get $5+ million dollar contract in the UFA market unfortunately. |

The vast majority wanted nothing to do with a 5 yr deal for Moulson. Money needed to be spent and the price has been paid.
Nothing can be done about it. |

As someone who has sunk to the level of excessively patting oneself on the back over the past couple of days (though mostly because certain others made it just too easy), I can see where he's coming from. I had said from the end of the lockout season that any contract over the next 3 or so seasons that extended longer than three years is a bad one. While it is still early, we're starting to see why that's the case. |

Yea that's it it's all Moulson...........if that contract and money would have went to another player, the same people would be complaining about it. |

I'm sure they could've found another player to give a 1 yr/3.5 or 4mil deal. |

We don't know what other offers he had . Maybe that was what required . That being said as the cap goes up and our young ones are on entry level deals or on their second contract . I don't really see it being a problem . Just something for fans second guess our GM on. |

It's 6 games into the season. The options of who to sign were limited, I'm sure, due to the fact that most people knew we were going to be bad. I just think it's a bit early to be in here jumping up and down about being right about something that's barely even started.

If that's what was required for a player on the wrong side of thirty with that kind of stat line, the smart play is to wish him well, and walk away. |

Absolutely, I may not be his biggest fan but my problem with him isn't about him personally. If we had given that contract to Bolland or Jussi Jokinen I'd have the same reaction. |
