McCabe + Pysyk > Benoit or Mezaros

Grigorenko and Reinhart should be regulars

McDavid would be day 1 impact player

Agreed, but gutting too many good players makes it tougher. Elite guys still need help. I don't hate what they are doing but it's far from a sure thing that they'll be better off this way. Is it worth burning 5 years just to hope it turns around?

It's more than that. We're not a guy or 2 away. We need a core group. I think we have a few guys with myers, Girgenson, ristolanen after that anybody is a possible trade. In my opinion the Last 2 years were about getting as much value as we could from our home grown assets. Now it's just about wasting time till our next group comes up and earns roster spots.

I think they will be good players but 2 out of 3 of their 1st needed to be sent back to juniors. Now they just give roster spots to all their 1sts.

No but hopefully guys like Ristolainen and Grigorenko don't woefully underachieve like Pajaarvi and Gagner.

Imo that was their biggest failure, for all the 1st overall picks, they've had a really bad drafting record outside the top picks.

Edmonton neither had a prospect pool that could touch ours or got a chance to pick a McDavid/Eichel, and except for Hall, I'd rather have the player picked 3rd in this draft than RNH/Yak. Also yes, their success is pretty much guaranteed unless 90% of our prospects don't pan out or everyone get's career ending injuries.

Agreed. If he can play wing for McEichel or a more seasoned Reinhart/Grigs he could do extremely well.
