You know what if we are committed to the rebuild we might as well dangle guys like Grossman, Schenn x2 and Coburn and see what we can get for the future. If we can get some young Left wingers to get some real depth there that would be fantastic right now. We need something better than Raffl, Schenn, Umberger, Rinaldo. If you can deal Vinny and Umberger as well go for it. You got Laughton coming up in a year or two and with C jam packed with Giroux, Couturier, Vinny, Schenn, Laughton, Bellmare and even Raffl can play C on fourth line. Use some of that depth to fix some holes.

Why are we moving Coburn again? - KGBflyers10 Why not? He's going to be old by the time we are a contender again plus his contract is up in what 2-3 years?

Giroux going to be old one day. Let's trade him for a bag of pucks while we still can. |

Good resiliency and heart in getting the win last night. I'll take the two points. But playing like they are overall, is not going to result in consistent wins. Still too many colossal breakdowns. On the Cole goal, nothing wrong with coming up and challenging that play in the neutral zone by Luke Schenn. But he is on the wrong side of the puck. Keep the man in front of you, and take the body, and it's a simple retrieval by Streit. And Rinaldo compounds it by lazily skating in the neutral zone, and only getting on his horse when he realizes that it's a two on one. If he was skating hard the entire time, maybe he takes away the pass to Cole.
The Benn goal simply can't happen.Another catastrophic breakdown. If you're going outnumber the opposition down low, and leave the front of the net, you better come away with the puck. Streit neither engaged in the puck battle, nor covered the front of the net.
Good finish with the game winner by Giroux to make up for the otherwise awful game he had overall.
I also thought MacDonald has his first poor game of the season. |

Coburn is nearly untouchable to me.
For all the promise the D prospects have, they could be a sack of poop in reality as well. Coburn is a fairly durable player that can compliment a top pairing guy, or lead the 2nd pairing.
They don't grow on trees, and he actually does have good talent/speed to his game. Unload the dead weight, Coburn can still be useful for a long while. |

Flyers shopping b schenn
http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/phi141019.html - Winning
Not sure why. You'd hope management would have learned what it means to sell low on a player that's young just to make a move.
Who is going to come in and replace bSchenn as a top 6 player, and be a viable candidate for that long term? Only one I can figure is Laughton which does have some credibility.
However just goes back the point of why selling low on Brayden now. Give the player his time, his value wont be going much lower. Give Laughton his time in the AHL. Stay the course. |

I personally don't buy it. It would have to be a pretty good return such as an impact defenseman. |

I just don't see the point of selling a young player at a really low value just to make a move when you really don't have a viable long term replacement kicking down the door.
Edit: You want to make a move to appease an annoyed fanbase? Kick out Holmgren's ass from club president, revamp a bit of the scouting department and get Cote the (frank) away from coaching. The problems with the Flyers have long not started with the guys on the ice. |

Well if they were trading him, it wouldn't be for low value. I don't see Hextall entertaining that kind of move at this time.

I see his value pretty low to be honest. He scored 20 but I cant imagine him getting you anything really of note straight up. He would bring back a player with warts like himself at this time.
What kind of player you seeing him being able to bring back? |

I think you're underselling his value. A comparable young player, in a deal that would fill a need for each team.
A 20 goals scorer is a valuable player in this League. And after a slow start, Schenn has played 2 pretty strong games. |

Dangle away, but I'd want premium returns on Brayden Schenn & Coburn. The only reason to trade either of those two is because you'd get a better return than you would for Luke Schenn or Grossmann.
I doubt Vinny or Umberger are tradeable right now, unless you're willing to add other assets or eat sizeable chunks of their salaries.
