Also feeds the Brayden Schenn rumors. Kid got 5 periods with the top line. That's not a real shot. Makes people question how much they value him as an organization
That said, since the NJ game, Schenn's game has gotten better. He's a lot more active and making things happen. - Jsaquella
When Vinny's back, they need to put BSchenn on the top line for an extended period. Like all the way to Thanksgiving. If the line doesn't produce as well as it does with Raffl there then that will be on BSchenn. |

Totally irrelevant to anything but when Viktor Fasth was extended by the Ducks back in 2013, I tweeted that 9 games weren't enough games to know what Viktor Fasth was as a goalie. Some dude jumped down my throat after I called him out for bashing the Flyers for never "developing and keeping young talent around" (Fasth was 30). In those 9 games, Fasth had a .933 SV%. Since then, he has a .906 SV%.
Slow morning btw. |

That's what I mean when I say Berube gets skittish with the lines. He gave Schenn 5 periods on the top line before juggling. That's not an audition that's a guy paying lip service to an idea that isn't his |

He wasn't skittish with the lines. The team wasn't playing well, and wasn't generating enough shots and offense at 5 on 5. Nothing wrong with changing lines around to see if that could make a difference. In fact it's a common coaching strategy in game. And what would probably happen on here if he didn't change lines and the team was struggling offensively, he'd then be called out for not making adjustments. Along with the complimentary posts of line suggestions.

Yeah, the Chief has an itchy trigger finger. I'm cool with changing things up now and then during a game when the team is struggling, but I wish he'd go back to the original lines later in the game.
Mike Keenan was really good at this. He'd mix and match when needed, but he would also go back to the original lines once things got turned around.

Agreed. And how about pulling the plug on Akeson after 4 games. I thought Akeson was one of the Flyers better players in the playoff series against the Rangers last year. This year he's in the dog house from jump street. Is Akeson a great player? Of course not, but he does some things well that can help the team. Sure, if you want to sit Akeson because a legit prospect is nipping at his heels, that's one thing. But to scratch him for a complete zero in VDV doesn't make much sense. |

If the Flyers win tonight with Akeson in the Cote suite, he will officially be our version of MDZ from the Rangers.

This one commercial said “Forget everything you know about slip covers,” so I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell slip covers, but I didn’t know what the (frank) they were. |

Well, to be fair, I think their situations were a little different. MDZ's junior hockey pedigree, draft position, and expectations far exceeded those of Akeson in every measurable way. MDZ was on the 2010 All-Rookie team, etc.
Jason Akeson has always been a long shot to make the NHL, being undrafted, small, and slow. His hands and hockey sense have carried him to this point. It's not like the Flyers are burying someone they invested a draft pick in, let alone someone who has done much outside of a small sample size of games.
And I say that as someone that DOES like Jason Akeson, as a player. But let's not get carried away.
Ugh, nevermind. I think I missed a joke or something. |

My problem with Akeson is that he's just not good enough to play in the top 6 and he lacks the intangibles (size, speed, defensive awareness, grit, PK ability) to succeed long term in the bottom 6. IMO, his likely niche is as a spare forward that you can plug in when one of your top 6 is injured.

So the Flyers are averaging about 1 more PP per game than their opponent this season.
Now, we just have to figure out that tricky 5v5 part of the game. |

I like some of the things Akeson does; I think the Flyers just want faster players across the board. Akeson doesn't seem to fit into that.

As the schedule marches on and players start getting nicked up and maybe taking a short cut or two.....probably not.
But the overall trend of not taking as many penalties is a good one. |

Totally agree with you. Also I don't know what the fascination with Akeson is. Yes he played well in the Rangers series. But it isn't like he played a full 82 in the NHL. I honestly think all things equal that the Flyers would prefer to have guys like Lerier, Cousins, Alderson playing Akesons roll but for development purposes they are in the AHL. Next year I would be suprised if Akeson is on the team. I think other guys will be ready to take his spot. |

I've listened to his "albums" enough that I hear all of the jokes on them exactly how he said them when I read them. - NickTheKid87
His wikipedia page under 'personal life':
Hedberg was married to Canadian comedian Lynn Shawcroft from 1999 until his death in 2005.[2][11]
Hedberg was known to be a drug user, mentioning it in some of his jokes (e.g., "I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too"). In May 2003 he was arrested in Austin, Texas, for heroin possession.[1]
He was left handed.
