If we move Morin because he doesnt really fit or hasnt developed the way they thought he would, then man, the return on that 2010 trade with Atlanta is pure GARBAGE

Byfuglien, Sopel, Eager, Aliu

for

Morin, Marty Reasoner, Joey Crabb, the no.24 pick (Kevin Hayes), the no.54 pick (Justin Holl)

That a whole lot of nothing we are left holding

- FourFeathers773

Who cares? We've won another cup since then, and are still legit contender. They had to shed, they did, and overall they're still in good shape. No need to fixate on what we did or didn't get in that one trade. If they'd gotten a stud in return, he'd prolly be gone by now anyway because he'd be too expensive.

Saad also needs to play away from the "stars" on this team. He is looking around too much on rushes looking to pass to one of his over-respected linemates when he is in a better scoring position himself. Then he directs a pass up someone's rear end wasting a good scoring chance.
- 67hawks

Agreed!! we all have seen way to much of that lately and he ain't the only one that is guilty of this.

Who of the four ex-Hawks is still in the league?

Only Byfuglien - so it's a whole lot of nothing for Byfuglien - correct - but it was a cap / contract dump.

I certainly hope you're not suggesting that they not move Morin because it will make that four year old deal look worse.

- StLBravesFan

EXACTLY !!!

Big Buff , and he is kind of a passenger on a bad team.

Crawford for Pavelec...after all, anyone can be good goaltender behind this defense and it saves up $2.1 million in cap space.

If anything, I believe that Morin will be a component in a trade deadline deal, or will be around for depth this season.

Morin has a little upside with his heavy shot and physical play. However, I don't know if he's really a fit for Q's system. I guess we'll see as the season goes.

- EKolb13

EK, agreed...along with the comment about figuring out what kind of player he is.

Morin, has a good shot but isn't a world-class sniper by any means. Thus, IMO, is not a good fit right now on a possession team--except on the 4th line.

He does some things well enough, but is not a possession player. Some of his shots are terribly low percentage--when he could have dished the puck. Doesn't seem to see the ice well. He'd be best served, again IMO, by keeping it very simple--continue playing physical, but going hard to the net more frequently...and looking to pass occasionally to keep possession alive. His ability to chip in some goals and do the latter probably determines his success (or tenure) in the Indian.

So you'd just give Morin away....for nada...

Put him on the list of young talent not given a chance, then lost for nothing.

Package him in a deal, lose some cap space and allow the guy to have a shot on another club. He deserves it...

...perhaps he'll be fortunate to face the Hawks and light 'em up. I'd be pulling for him to do just that.

- ArlingtonRob

Why does he "deserve it". Spots in this league and especially on a Cup contender like the Hawks are EARNED. At this point he has done nothing to earn it. He has shown short periods where maybe you think he has earned a spot, but not enough to ensure a permanent spot in the lineup. Why has a Shaw, Smith, Kruger, Saad, Bollig, etc. all earned regular spots in the lineup and Morin has not? They have all either filled a role that Morin cannot or has not been able to fill. You want a regular spot in the lineup, do something so your coach can't look at you as the first one to choose to bench.

Worked his way into the line-up" as a 5-7 defenseman (averaging about 14 minutes per game) on a poor team does not mean he was "young talent not given a fair chance" and should be on Rob's "list".
- StLBravesFan

You're correct there. Olsen was buried in the depth chart and wasn't going to get much of a chance at the time that he was traded.

I guess I was just pointing out that some of the kids that have been dealt or lost have had some degree of success - even if it it minimal.

Fair enough

.... this constant discussion on 'How to get Bickel" going is wearing thin with me. Wish we had traded him last July along with Leddy and gone after Kesler. He looks amazing with the Ducks. Instead we try and jump start a 4 million $$$ player. Wow.

- Colbyboy

It will be a point of discussion until Bickell is no longer part of the organization.

Wonderful.

I wonder if they will recall Leighton to back-up Raanta.

Edit: It looks like Darling is being recalled.

Morin and Rundblad were still not in the room late, so assuming they're the healthy scratches right now. #Blackhawks

If Darling is being re-called, then I would imagine that the injury to Crawford can't be that serious.

At least that's what I hope...
