Akeson has been no more then average, and hasn't earned a longer look. Nothing wrong with competition for icetime. - MJL
That's just, like, your opinion, man. |

Giving your worst even-strength players less even-strength icetime is a good plan in my books.
But I'm not an NHL head coach. - bradleyc4
I'm not saying your stupid for suggesting it, I understand the motivation behind the suggestion. It was one bad season in his first season as a Flyer. It's a new season now, so I suppose Lecavalier will have to play himself on to the fourth line again.
The best example I think I can give is JvR's situation early during Couturier's rookie season. I think JvR being taken away from Giroux and Jagr had more to do with how ineffective Hartnell was in a checking role then JvR as a legitimate top line winger. In the end Hartnell had a career season, Pronger got hurt and we needed D to place him. |

All I got from that was that Berube's trying to screw Akeson [out of a roster spot]. |

So, people on the Pens board are saying they'd do Maata for Simmonds.
In a vacuum, it's probably a fair trade. But given the Penguins current lineup, the fact that they're a divisional rival, and given the Flyers future window and prospect pool, I said Pittsburgh would have to overpay for Simmonds, if he's even available to them at all. Thoughts? |

From the Flyers stand point, they'd probably need another offensive forward coming back, even if it was a modest one. Simmonds is the closest thing the Flyers have to a natural goal scorer/sniper at the moment. |
