They are in another league.
Raffl takes a lot of heat but he and Jake at least had some decent chances.

Mason looks shell shocked and who could blame him.

- Marc D

Yeah. Raffl is fine. He won't score 40 goals, but at least he'll help them carry play and create chances. Better than any of the other wingers

The results were not there, but he was doing the right things, going to the net, battling and working hard. Has to avoid those penalties and he missed a glorious chance, but he's creating chances.

No other lines did half as much as that one did, still pissed Couturier & Read got no O zone starts

Raffl hit the post twice. Could have easily been a 2 goal night for him. He got one in Dallas too. That line has always looked good together. I look forward to Berube breaking it up when VL comes back.

Chances are great but you have to convert in a time of need. Sounds like he's getting a free pass, as some do not.

Because even though he needs to capitalize on the chances he's creating, others are not even creating chances. The Schenn, Bellemare, Simmonds line was invisible tonight. The defense was awful yet again. Grossmann lost positioning in the crease to a guy 4 inches shorter and 30 lbs lighter. Couturier and Read got buried and did very little to get out of their own end. The 4th line was useless and gave Chicago two power plays.

You're right but none of these guys get to play with Giroux and Voracek. For me, it's frustrating to watch G and Jake put on a show but have nobody to help consistently finish.

8 minutes left in the third. Sean Couturier & Matt read have combined for ZERO O-Zone starts.

None.
Zilch Nada.
Zip.

Almost sad at this point really.

Keep the kids the (frank) away from this mess. Only one I feel sorry for is Giroux.

that first goal by pushing mason off the puck still boggles me how the ref staring right at that thinks that's ok... not that it really mattered

The one positive is that many of the players on the current squad wont be here to play when the team is ready to establish itself as a solid club again.

The downside of that is it will take 4-5 years to truly purge itself of the trash that's currently on it. Long time, and I feel for Giroux. Hopefully he still has got it by then and injuries haven't taken a toll.

This also isn't good for Mason's rejuvenation as an NHL goalie but what can you do. If the Flyers had not signed on with long idiotic contracts to Hartnell/Umberger, Macdonald, Streit, LeCavalier and made the Schenn deal things may be different and the mess could be been navigated through much quicker. Sadly hindsight is useless.

There was one shot where the puck was clearly between the skates uncovered. He went for it and poked Mason out of the way. I have no issue with that goal really.

I mentioned this to Hammarby before. Any chance of Mason becoming anything is at serious risk here.

Honestly, I love the player and it would cause the organization to be even more of a laughing stock to trade him.

However I wouldn't blame him for being open to the idea. Far too much dead weight on the team not allowing it to move forward, and that dead weight has long contracts.

Holmgren should be out riding his bike on the (frank)ing freeway instead of being promoted for this piece of poop mess he caused.

Absolutely infuriating.

giroux and mason may both be fried and/or gone by then. time will tell. hopefully, if mason doesn't hold up, stolarz will be ready.

yeah, i saw that...my point is he took mason's right leg right out from under him with his stick. not intentional. i don't care. he still interfered with him being able to make a save. no goal.
