Hextall can keep his plan of patience with the prospects, however he has to do something with this current team. Can't have efforts like last night much longer. What happens if they get shelled in Pitt tonight, because chances are with our D it will be a mess. A good trade ( Schenn bros) and some minor adjustments will help. Raffl must be moved from first line - 3flyerkids
I don't think a trade will do much, personally. All you are doing in a trade is messing with team chemistry. This team is not a very good team, compounded by inconsistency. Having constant roster changes will not help consistency, IMO.
I think Raffl had a few decent scoring chances, but I agree it would be nice to have a legit first line LW. |

I think another loss tonight will lead to some changes. I don't think they will fire Berube, but I think they will either make a trade or bring up Laughton or one of Hagg/Ghost/Manning/Alt.
And I honestly think having Lecavalier back sometime next week will be a help. - Streit2ThePoint
I would like to think they would do something significant, but I'm not really sure what they can do.
One thing should be abundantly clear, this team just doesn't have the talent to consistently compete with top tier teams. It isn't a matter of work ethic, or even speed, although both are lacking, but it is matter of not having the offensive and defensive talent to compete.

I think we have the offensive talent to compete.... And that would even be better if we didn't have one of the leagues worst defenses. Sadly, our AHL defense would be just as effective and would cost almost $20 million less. |

I'm glad I've been on hydrocodone for the last week (tonsillectomy) or I'd be *really* goddamned depressed. We're stuck. There's really not much that can be done for this season... but I'm not a believer in just giving up. Tanking is just not an option. What the hell do you do? I fear for Mason. I've come to really like him, and I was a doubter at first. Now that we've got an ace in that position, the team is as bad as it has ever been and it's such a waste.
It's easy to say we hope he is resilient and can work through the poor play of his team... but I don't think that is realistic. I just can't stand what's going on here.
Sorry for the incoherence, I'm still not all there. |

There might be a team meeting or some minor shuffling.
Last night was really the first loss where they were not in the game when the third period rolled around. Things like that happen when a mediocre team plays an elite team-and the elite team has not just a good game, but also some very good puck luck.
- Jsaquella
The reason the Flyers weren't in the game in the 3rd period or at any point of the game, really wasn't about a mediocre team playing an elite team. They weren't in the game at any point, because they played with zero emotion or urgency. There was no jump to their game whatsoever. They were flat the entire game. The first Chicago goal says it all. Tell me what team there was hungrier for the puck? That right there isn't about talent or elite team versus mediocre team. |

I agree we don't have enough elite talent on this team; however, with the exception of a few players, all are NHL level talent. Some are being asked to do too much.

Part of the problem is that they have no chemistry so there really is nothing to mess with.
G and Jake are the only ones that have anything and they need a competent LW.
I think B Schenn must go. We don't have to make another stupid trade ( JVR) but a trade that makes sense. Hextall is the guy who was brought in to improve team.
He has made one crap trade for Umberger. IMP he could have packaged Hartnell for something better |

To what point? Making a trade now is stealing from a point of weakness. It would not be beneficial and may end up just being a case of shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic.
Best case is getting another young, inconsistent player. Worst case trade is getting pennies on the dollar for them . |

Playing with emotion is one of the things that helps make a team elite. This team has shown no jump (maybe 1 period against MTL) and always starts slow. Something is not right.
We need a trade, we need to mix it up. Keep our youth, but do something.
Anybody can see that the D needs to be fixed, with or without Coburn.

You are in denial about the talent on this team. Even if they came out with all the jump in the world, they still lose that game; it just wouldn't be 4-0.
A tell tale sign of a bad hockey team is one that has to be firing on all cylinders just to be competitive. |

If there is nothing out there than don't make a senseless deal. I just hope he is trying to do something.
I don't want to sit back and watch this team get pounded. There is talent here and we shouldn't have 1 win at this point. A few adjustments could help.

Cool. So we have a team not ready to play a Nationally televised game against a top team. Speaks volumes about the coach, and players. |

The team won't be fixed with a trade, made out of desperation. They do need jump, they do need to play 60 minutes. Is a trade going to fix that?
Making a trade now likely means making a bad deal |

I've thought that for a long time, but based on the lines we've thrown out this season, I don't think there is the offensive talent there either. Obviously, we are closer offensively, but when Giroux does not play at the a high level this team lacks offense.

Yea, if they had played a hard fought game and competed with emotion and urgency, but simply got beat by a better team, I can deal with that. But to come out flat and lifeless in the first period, is unaceptable to me. And it didn't get better as the game went on. And this is happened at a number of points of the season so far. So we can talke all we want, about not having the right defense, or Couturier's high level of D zone starts, or anything else roster or strategy related. But the lack or urgency and emotion is the biggest issue in my opinion. I want to see the urgency that they show in the comebacks such as against Dallas, the majority of the time. |

A buffet table for him, and one for the rest of the team? - tangent_man
I like Byfuglien. He's a dynamic offensive defenseman. Not great in his own end, but better than some of the dmen the Flyers currently dress. |

Do you think that the reason for having no chemistry is due to the constant roster changes? It what spoke about in the pre game, since 2010 the Hawks have 9 players left from that roster, many of whom were an integral part of the 2010 and 2013 Stanley cup.
The flyers only have 2. It's hard to create chemistry when the roster is continually turned over
