I do know that there is an official league process for the cancelling of games (approvals, signatures, discussion with both teams, etc.) which, from what I understand is a little time consuming. That's probably why it "took so long". They probably made the decision a while ago, but didn't announce it until everything was finalized.

I'm sure it's more complicated than just saying "Hey, we're postponing this." But in general, they posted on FB about an hour ago that they were monitoring the situation. Then came out and said they were going to postpone. It's a pretty quick reaction IMO.
