according to the NHL rule book, it's not a goal. You scored 5, complaining about one that was kicked in seems a wee bit douchey to me. - Isles_since_6
it was kicked into the crease, wasn't even headed towards the goal line. we've all seen worse called good goals |

It's only not a goal if it's kicked directly in. If it hits anything else on the way in, it is a goal. According to the rule book, anyways. - Feeling Glucky?
(ii) When the puck has been kicked using a distinct kicking motion.
doesn't say anything about it being allowed if it goes off someone on the way in. It's always been disallowed with a distinct kicking motion. Regardless, the correct call was made and the Isles played like crap in the second. |

Douchy? well, if the shoe was on the other foot, and it was a goal that would have tied up the game for you, im sure you would be thinking otherwise..
lets say a player accidentally stepped on the puck in the corner and went ass over tea kettle , his foot kicked back, and the puck fired towards the net and went in..still a kicking motion wether its frontwards or backwards..the problem is they didn't look at the wtf aspect, how did that happen?? and take into account that freakish things happen sometimes with or without intent..
That should count ... and what happened last night, should have counted also..
that was a total fluke, don't be all poopy pants..because like I said, if it was you, and it was a goal to tie the game up, you would be screaming at the TV when it was disallowed..which, in my view, should have stood wether it was us or them..
that's all im getting at. |

So if a puck is kicked towards the net and deflects off someone else its a no goal?
Makes sense i guess - just never encountered that before. - Joel_Eh
thing is it wasn't kicked towards the net... it was kicked in front of the net and happened to bank off a skate and in... it was supposed to be a pass to i think it was santorelli on the other side but didn't make it... i think that should count |

You guys completely deserved the win, I just found it odd there would be any dispute over such a blatantly obvious kick that the player himself knew was going to be called back. |

WTF doesn't come in to play.
.... "(i) A kicked puck that deflects off the body of any player of either team (including the goalkeeper) shall be ruled no goal."
