I would say bottom 8 is a lock if things don't start to gel.

Teams like the Isles, Panthers and Flames all look like they're finally getting their games together.

I see that as fine. Most cup champions have a defense that's more than fine though.

Look at LA's defense. Take away Doughty and it becomes far less ordinary. Is Jake Muzzin a legitimate top pairing defenseman? Or is it that it can work playing with Doughty, and with the team defense and puck support that LA plays with? Put Jake Muzzin on the Flyers right now, and he'd be just another one of the bums.

Id rather see young kids who have an uncertainty to the future than veterans who are on the decline or wont be more than what they are now.
