at what point do you start to consider the fact that given that statement, he just is what he is, and would rather take potential lumps with an unknown variable like akeson for a few weeks to see whats there? not attacking you personally, but i do really see the other side of the coin being played here, given how bylsma handled his younger players - stayinthefnnet
I don't think you should take a player out of the lineup that is giving you the level of play that you want, and are happy with. To see what you have in another player. If a player like Rinaldo is playing poorly, then by all means give another player a shot, and sit Rinaldo. But that's not happening, and Rinaldo is playing well. Rinaldo has done something to earn the playing time and a new contract from the team. Akeson has to do the same. He'll get his chance.

Sanheim is on the WHL team. They have a separate one for each junior league. - aflyerpower8

BREAKING:
The Philadelphia Flyers have traded future 40-goal-scorer Patrick Sharp to the Chicago Blackhakws in exchange for career minor league Matt Ellison. - jmatchett383
I personally don't think the Flyers should be looking to make major changes right now. But one thing I think they should be looking for, is to see if they can acquire a veteran defensive center with decent wheels, who is good on faceoffs for the 4th line. That is one small move that could help the team right now.

I kind of think they have that in Ryan White but not sure when he is back.
I'd let this dumpster fire burn all season long unless assets brought back are somewhat young and here long term. |

No need to bring him back. They re-signed Rinaldo and give Couturier all of Hall's D-Zone starts |

I'm sure we can pick up someone like that on waivers eventually. I've always been a fan of Peter Regin though I don't know how good he is at faceoffs. |

Good faceoff man and PKer, but not a good 5 on 5 player.

Not sure if Hexy is looking to do anything, but if he does, I'd sure like to see some nastiness added to this lineup. No, I don't mean an enforcer ... but just some piss and vinegar, especially on the D end. Right now this team looks WAY too easy to play against.
I do appreciate that they're the least penalized team in the league, but perhaps this can go too far. I kind of feel that they've lost a lot of emotion/aggressiveness. Perhaps a bit more aggressiveness and emotion might result in an extra penalty or two, but maybe that's a good thing? Maybe the Flyers play better when they play a bit more on the edge? |

No, Bellemare is more of a forechecker and puck pursuit player. Umberger is better suited for the 3rd line.

What was the talk about Hall in the off season? Not a good enough 5 on 5 player. Fans wanted more speed and better 5 on 5 possession. Not that they were wrong.

They definitely lack emotion and aggressiveness in large parts of games. One of the biggest problems with this team right now,

Bellemare was a really accomplished defensive player in Sweden... and we know Swedes know two-way hockey.
Umby can play wherever, up and down the lineup, any F position. That's why he was attractive. He's no stranger to a 4th-line... just ask Todd Richards.
The point is to share the hard defensive minutes with competent players... not to get hung up on line designations. Why trade for that kind of player, when you already have candidates in-house? |

Umberger can only play on the third line. It's the law |

Bellemare is a solid two way player, but he's not that role playing shutdown defensive 4th line center that I'm talking about. He's more of a puck pursuit forechecking energy 4th line center that everyone wanted.
Umberger can play up and down the lineup. Doesn't mean he's best suited for the 4th line.
And I'm obviously aware of needing to share the hard defensive minutes or I wouldn't have posted suggesting that the Flyers acquire a 4th line checking center that started this conversation.
