You're comparing first line centers to Couturier. The Flyers first line center Giroux, who is the comparable player to Toews, Kopitar, and Backstrom, centers a top line.
And let's get one thing straight. Last game Couturier took 11 defensive zone draws in the game. He had 27 total shifts in the game. - MJL
Did each of those shifts start with a face off? |

I would take my chances with that, going forward. I don't know what you do with Vinny, but if the choice becomes selling low on Schenn vs. keeping Lecavalier, that isn't even a choice - AllInForFlyers
What you do with Lecavalier is put him at center where he belongs. And leave B Schenn at LW.

I still think McDavid could be a great player, but Eichel fits better with the Flyers!

Coburn may get resigned as well, same with L. Schenn, but the problem is that's a lot of money for average or below average performance. That also hinders the team in other facets. - Glak18
true. if you can resign coburn for similar money though, i still think thats more of a brick in the solution building than it is a problem.
luke schenn i just think is bad. flat and simple. |

The problem with Luke Schenn is not that he's bad. Because he's not. But what's not happening, is he is not pushing for icetime. He's not pushing to move past Grossmann to move up the depth chart and get more responsibility.

Nope. - MJL
So that 27 is kind of a weird number when you consider he wasn't taking a face off each time. The 11 defensive zone starts are actual face offs no? |

18 did. 2 of them came in the offensive zone. Neither of those two took place before there was 4 minutes left in the third period.
11 defensive zone starts(draws), 5 Neutral zone. |

6 games doesn't define a player. Streit was no good and was a bad signing around this time last year.

Seems like 18 would be a better number to use instead of 27. I'm no numbers and stats lover though. Stepping away. |

Possibly. He's not the same kind of goal scorer, but the kid creates a ton of offense. He's got amazing moves, great stickhandler and playmaker, and he can score goals as well. He's a monster. - Jsaquella
and yet there are some people on these boards that don't want him |

Well a shift is any time a player jumps on the ice. A zone start is where play starts on the ice, after a stoppage |

A better number to use for what? The only shifts that are counted in terms of zone starts are shifts that start with a faceoff.

if we want to get into the well hes not a finished product yet thing, then fine. there really isnt a way to quantify the whole will he get any better thing. but to me, i cant see any one thing that he does exceptionally well. im not saying he is strictl echl fodder, but i dont think he really should be viewed as a core piece or a priority. i think he is currently slightly overpaid as it is, and really is best suited as as a third pair guy. the fact that that the flyers have both him and grossmann is a detriment to me.
this isnt just crap on the flyers players, as i think there is actually quite a bit of talent on the team. but luke schenn isnt a piece i really would value at this point.
and we could be getting into semantics here, but I would take your description of his scenario and put it in the bad category. either he doesnt have it, and hes bad. or he has it, and hes not pushing, and to me thats even worse. |

Well every team needs veterans and ones that know the system already, Coburn would probably be the best of all of them to keep. Obviously in 3 years the team defense is not going to be all of the prospects. If the Flyers are lucky 2 of the prospects are in the lineup in 3 years. |
