This game shows that the Flyers, when they play like they're capable of, can be a solid team. That they can check, and play a puck pressure 200 foot game. And can play solidly on the forecheck. And that their despicable and horrid defenseman, if they have the support, can play a solid game. And they did that against the top offensive team in the league. Now they just have to build on it, and bring that kind of effort to the rink every game. If they can do that, and there is no doubt in my mind they can. This is a playoff team.
- MJL

oh yeah. the defense is still poorly constructed, but there is a ton of talent on the team. now, doesnt it really (frank)ing eat at you to see games like this, and know they are capable of it, and the fact that it is so inconsistently given unless they are playing the pens? it shouldnt take that to bring it out in them.

and then on the reverse side of the coin, the pens can be world beaters, but they host the flyers and all of a sudden they are traumatized.

for all of the fenwick and whatnot going on, there is a mental, human factor that just refuses to go away.

I hope Read remembers that goal next time he's in a shootout. It was freaking beautiful.
- Feanor

I was really glad to see Read get his first goal of the year.. he's hasn't been very effective offensively and I hope he gets back to where I know he can be with his play.

At least Fleury is his usual shaky self, so that's good.

2 posts last night, 2 more tonight. The Flyers aren't getting many bounces going their way, not like the teams they are playing.

Good for Bellemare.

I was thinking that too. I've seen him pull off that move before in games. I wonder why he doesn't go to it in shootouts.

Never mind BSchenn, now's the time to get a 1st round pick for Umberger.
- Feanor

1st? Does that include Umberger carrying Ghost in his arms like an infant?

We'll see if they can carry this momentum. They haven't been able to in the past and have always reverted back after beating the Pens.
- PhillySportsGuy

We will see. But this is a game they can build on, and learn from. But it won't mean much if they don't back it up. I know what this team is capable of.

It's a game of emotion. When it's there, the Flyers can be a good team. And their suspect defense can play well when the support and structure is there. And if they play to the level that they're capable of. They can be a playoff team.

I was talking to a friend of mine who is a Pens fan and I told him I had a feeling Hornquist would have a big game. 2 SOG and a -2. I thought that 1st line of Pittsburgh would have a field day.

How is it that everything that is said about the team that is positive is true when they win, but when they lose, nothing is true?

these are the same players, win or lose. Their flaws don't disappear when they win or lose

ive said all along the flyers are too good to not be in the playoff mix.

however, it is still inexcusable what the pens allow them to do to them.

but as a flyers fan, for as much as i love would love these games, part of me would be mad it takes the pens to bring it out of them.

For a while we looked like New Jersey with our neutral zone play.

The Pens seem to come into these games thinking we're still being run by Lavi.

According to the game I just watched...yeah he stinks. A goal off the blocker and bouncing in doesn't make his terrible game disappear.

i really like hornqvist and what he brings. however, he really isnt someone who is going to create for himself. from what i saw, crosby was pretty silent, and with that, hornqvist wont be feeling so horny

oh yeah i was thinking the same thing. but, it makes too much sense not to do it against the pens.
