To me this is a huge game tonight. They have to stop this skid tonight. They drop this then they face another strong team in Dallas and we can get ourselves in trouble. This is a must win for this team tonight and I'm guessing for Capuano. He'd probably be on the hot seat if they lost tonight and the next one.

I don't think so...If they fire Cappy just a couple of weeks into the season, then it magnifies what a bad decision it was to just not can him after last season, giving a new coach time to get to know the team and teach systems before the new season. There were also good options available then. What would be the point of keeping Cappy on then just to fire him 7 games in? I think he gets at least 20 games, unless we're talking a double-digit losing streak before then.

Youre probably right. By that time it unfortunately may be too late to dig ourselves out IF the losing continued. Its a shame that after Snow's best offseason the one thing he drops the ball on could be what derails this season. If it does ill never understand why he would risk his career on a coach like capuano? Makes zero sense imo. Its early and we are 2 games over 500 so its not time to jump off the cliff but there are some serious negative signs imo. Most of which are all too familiar.

The problem is other teams adjusting to our team. Watching tape and seeing what our weaknesses are. You can see the deficiencies in those 4 wins. The offense saved our asses for the most part and Halak did at the garden. Good coaches/teams adjust. We haven't done that yet. I'm all for rolling four lines(to an extent/within reason)but when you continually throw out a line(4th line)that gets pinned in their own zone and put them out against the strongest competition you're giving momentum to the other team. Creating lines that very well could cost us points. For ANY fan those line combos were head scratchers. Some will say it was only for two games or they had to give him a shot. Oh, I see, the Islanders are such a power house they can give away points early in the season to give players like Mcdonald a shot or put players who clearly lack offensive skill on our scoring lines. Makes sense. If we miss the PO's by 4 points we can all remember these games right now.
Common sense right? I've said this countless times but why is something that is so obvious to a fan not grasped by the coaching staff? Is it stubbornness or incompetence OR a combination of the two? I don't want to see this team lose but it may be the best thing for the team in the long run? Problem is who is his replacement? For such a great offseason(and it was)there always seems to be one ball drop. When there were so many great coaches available why stick with someone like Capuano?

Well that's what I meant by can't maintain it. He makes odd line combo decisions, and doesn't match opposing lines properly. He doesn't even know when to use a time out for God's sake. He let's things spiral out of control, period by period, and eventually game per game.

It's almost like he's trying to figure it out as he goes along, instead of being prepared for the game. The perfect way I could put it would be that he's reactive, not proactive. Other teams are ready with their game plan, and we're trying to hold off their game instead of playing ours.

Ill never understand his reluctance to call a time out? Does he think he can save them up and cash them in at the end of the season for something?

You honestly wanna know what I think it is? I truly believe he has a full blown curfew. His mom flips out if he's not home before 11 pm.

Either that or he thinks they pile up and he can call 7 of them in a later game

“They have success. They don’t play in our end very much.

This is Capuano's reasoning for playing the 4th line as much as he does. . He must be seeing something the rest of the world is not seeing? IPB has a good write up on Capuano's "reasoning".

lmao, maybe he wants to fine tune the teams defensive skills by being pinned down in their own zone.

Honestly shocked he took a step back. Kid has the tools to be a great player.
- Cptmjl

I said it very early in his first year. He doesn't have the hands. He can skate and has a huge frame.. .but he could not finish on GOLDEN oportunities. To me he showed you back then what he was... and Power forward that will have to hit, crash the net and get garbage goals. there is nothing wrong with that... but someone needs to tell him (and his agent) he is not Malkin.

Honestly, I think Clutterbuck is a better player for us right now than Nino could be... 1. He kills Penalties. 2. He draws penalties (5 so far this season) 3. He hits and gets under other team's skin. and 4. He will probably put the same numbers up on the 4th line that Nino would on our 3rd .. (b/c there ain't no way he would be on JT's line no mater what RangerDingbat thinks).

I wouldn't call Bailey a wasted pick yet.
- Cptmjl

Bad contract.. yes. Wasted pick.. no. He is a 3rd line player.. period. He is also far better than Luke Schenn and Filatov who are the guys Snow was killed for not drafting that year. .... and Oh yeah he got more picks moving down in that draft to grab hamonic late second and Martin late 5th round.

Agreed. That was a good draft for Snow overall. I for one initially ripped him for it honestly. At this point Bailey is a serviceable NHL player. He may not be all we wanted him to be(yet ) but he's still a legitimate NHL player who can contribute.

Did you here new owners say 5th RING. lol. No rings in hockey new guys. Also they ask Charles wang to stay to teach him.

But reading on in new day article I have to agree wang was proud owner and he did care. And snows plan would have never have worked to take advantage of all those teams over cap of we just went out and spend for sake of spending.

Either way. Let's get a big win tonight and get back on track.
Lets hope cappy doesn't bury lee on last line
