I think if Price hadn't gotten injured that the rangers/habs series would of went to 7 - Pikey Fan
Maybe...but from the looks of it, the entire habs team were pooped when they beat the Bruins...In a way, it was their own little stanley cup to beat their arch nemesis... No gas left for the next 2 series... |

In that series Rask let in some goals he shouldn't have. But with the exception of Boychuck, Soderberg and Iginla the whole team hung him out to dry. I've never bashed Carey Price, his poopty laundry aside, he is hard not to like. But if I am picking I take Lundqvist above anyone but I would go Rask before Price. He's proven more, and I believe his best years are still to come. - glove_was_stuck
I hope so! I prefer the Bruins beating the habs any day of the week and 4 (straight) times in the playoffs... but as of today, i have to put Price ahead of Rask...Lundqvist above both... |

Ill take a team of 75% scrubs that make the playoff and are the top of their division anyday of the week. Look at Chicago. A star studded 1st line a useful older 2nd line (experience) and nothing but scrubs (role players) 3rd and 4th liners.
Where as u have a team that is star studded with 1st overalls and cant get out of the basement sellers. By time the young dman arrive in edmonton your big four will be well into their contracts and when free agency hits you will lose a couple.
As for the argument of eberle or patch. Is tough. Patch is a pure goal scorer with size and speed on a line littered with smaller less talented players. Eberle is a play maker with speed and great iq and plays with two extremEly talented players of his mangnitude. If the roles were reversed and patch was with Edmonton where would his points total be?? Would the two players be comparables? - bast_003
They have a great D though...but average goalie... pretty balanced in other words! |

Meh. To be honest, Tokarski was pretty good. The Habs sucked for most if not all of that series. |

So it's settled. Edmonton has all the stars in place. Their D corp will be stars in the next 2-3 years, and their goalie is pretty good.
Enough of these trade talks! - l3ig_l2ecl
Exactly! Those 22 NHL team scouts are wasting their time! The problem might be that the oilers are TOO deep. Need to clear out some of that depth at center, D, and Goal. |

Holy poop- a real hockey psychic!! Who is winning the cup this year??? - saskoil21
Don't be like that. You are here saying Yak is going to be awesome when he's shown virtually nothing to justify that and your going to mock someone for praising Galchenyuk? Cmon man |

oh god this
the excuses by a vast majority of the fan base after that loss are painful. the rangers played quality hockey and the better team won the series. credit where its due people/
tokarski played extremely well. he's absolutely not the reason the habs lost |

There's no trade to be made.
U guys don't wanna give up the assets that we'd want. Ur winning right now.
We don't want/need prospects or picks as value to even out a trade - hugefemale dog77
This seems correct. But speculating is fun until ppl start calling everyone idiots and tell each other how bad their teams best players are. Like is said in my first comment on this thread, the oil shouldn't trade Eberle. But it would seem Yak is available and the cost should be quite a bit less than Eberle, if it were to happen. |

people are touchy over HOME team players.
and people like to make others feel bad when theyre team fails cause theyve been through it themselves. that, or theyre just haters.
either way; i suppose its par for the course.
yaks is worth less than ebs id say. but ill also say that gm's arent nearly as quick to judge as regular joe fan. of course they dont see a 20 year old that had a weak sophmore season, but also led rooks in goals and points as a valueless bust.
not even close.
if he were to be traded soon, id bet anything its for a very solid return |

BOTH teams have major issues, but one team has Price and Subban. Nobody on this thread should be exuding any type of false confidence, especially Habs fans. Without Price, this team could have very easily been 0-4 to start the season. |

Oh I didn't mean Yak for pick and a prospect. Obviously there would be quality, but Eberle would be a huge deal and personally I think Eberle is as good as Hall when you factor in all the other things he brings to the table. I just don't see Eberle moving and if there is a deal to Montreal then I just don't know what core piece I would be happy with losing for him. I understand that Eberle is better than Gallagher or Pleks, but I really don't want to see those guys go. The team is playing too well and I don't think they should mess with it.
I would be willing to bet that trade talks have simmered down after 2 straight wins lol |

good post
not sure about the ebs=hall tho.
i love ebs, hes a slick as they come. and a guy like him is integral to any team moving forward. or succeeding once theyre there. but hall pushes posession and dives the play. ebs is a smaller, skilled sniper.
one is kind of a guy u can build a team around, and the other is a complimentary type player to those guys.
bu totally agreed on the habs-oilers thoughts. it just doesnt make sense. why give away a guy thats a big part of your current success? and in the oilers case, they just dont need need picks/prospects as added value instead of all the value in a guy that can help now. which the oilers need.
im sure the trade talks have died down abit, but i hope that it hasnt made mact complacent in anyway. we still have 2 huge holes and i hope hes able to find the right deal to fill at least one of em.
but of course easier said than done

I just think Eberle is awesome lol. I'm from the Windsor area so I know what Hall brings to the table. I just think Ebs is awesome and he would be the guy I would want first from the Oil. Just my preference. I think he's great.
Edit:
My only concern with Ebs is that he hasn't played meaningful hockey (playoffs) in a looooong time. I argued this earlier with some regarding Patches and was all fired up hahaha |

Didn't read any previous comments but this rumour is crap considering the Habs have nothing the oilers need. No big skilled centre they are gonna trade and no Defence that we'd want. Whoever thinks mac t is trading eberle for any of Eller, tinordi, tokarski yada yada yada is dumb. |
