Yeah. I saw they were ahead 4-2 with under a minute and clicked over to another game. I looked up and saw 4-4 a few minutes later. I didn't believe it.

AHL is experimenting with new OT rules. They play 7 minutes of OT before the shootout. It starts as 4v4. On the first whistle under 4 minutes, it switches to 3v3. Laughton scored his goal at 3v3.

That's not bad rules changes for the OT. Anything to lessen the chances of a game ending in a shootout I'm all for implementing.

I think they've been well received. The number of shootouts has decreased significantly. I don't know what happens when a penalty occurs though.
