Just another clueless author who doesn't have a clue in how to use analytics in the correct context. All those scoring chances and shot attempts are on MacDonald. Nobody else has been on the ice! |

I'm glad I did not read it.
Tonight's game will be interesting.
Detroit can cause all kinds of problems with their speed and puck skill but even so they are a better match up for the Flyers then the problems LA can cause with their size and skill.
LA could be very difficult for a smaller defense. Wonder if Gostisbehere plays vs LA even if he looks decent today. |

I'm fine with waiting on our D prospects for the most part. I strongly believe they need to add another LW though. Even if they keep Schenn as a LW in the top six whoever we're putting in the second LW role really won't be cutting it. - hereticpride
I believe we're in our current situation of weaknesses due to bad luck and bad decision making by management. On one hand losing Chris Pronger and Kimmo Timonen is bad luck. On the other hand, JvR for Luke Schenn is a set back trade. We all know how I feel about the Umberger deal. Not offering Matt Carle what he deserves is a set back. Management has done a lot of good things and we're still in a decent position but I don't believe trading one or two players is gonna turn things around. I'm not so sure looking over seas for good but inexperienced players (inexperienced to the NHL style of play) will turn things around. |

CSN trying to cause a goalie controversy. Saying Mason's status as the #1 is unclear because Emery has won the only two games so far. - MBFlyerfan
Can you blame them? they're there to get hits and the coach is already making it easier on them by starting the clear backup again with rest in between?
I don't get it if Mase isn't in night tonight. Emery is doing his job, he's a back up. Get your starter back in there, now when he starts playing badly then you may give Ray some extra starts than the normal spot starts a back up gets. |

I love the return we got for Carter and Richards but we were only a year removed from a Stanley Cup Final when the deals were made. These deals were oddly timed, much like Laviolette being fired three games into a brand new season.
I don't in the least think it would be a stupid question to ask if we are better off right now or what we were before.

Keep in mind that Briere still could have been bought out. Bryzgalov could have not been signed at all. Read could still be here. Pronger still could have got hurt. Lecavalier more then likely never signed here. Laughton could still be drafted. |

Happy with the trades. They happened how long ago? Ancient history. I prefer to deal with the here and now. And there is a game tonight.

I don't see any controversy.
Just the fact that Ray has been a little more confident, little bit better goalie so far.
Mase is still the #1 guy.
If they feel Ray is the best shot to win vs Detroit today he should play.
Flyers may be playing better with Ray in net, that part is always hard for me to figure out, but it looks true in the very limited number of games.

It's not like the players I named are on the verge of retirement. JvR alone is still a star on the rise. It's also isn't as if I haven't had to listen to bickering of how we lost Patrick Sharp since 2007. |

I feel this will keep going until we find out it's all Karl Dykhuis fault for choosing his number |

Man at one point Perry Saturn was a legit star wrestler. He and Kronus were great as The Eliminators during the prime of ECW..

For me without question yes.
You saw the max of Carter, Richards and Hartnell who all are getting older. You can make an argument that to this point Schenn has not been great but which player would you undo if you could, Simmonds , Voracek, Couturier? |

Right now it doesn't matter if Ray has been better by an inch or a mile, right now Ray is playing better. Is Mason still our starter? Of course, but what he did last season for only one full season, he has to prove he can do again or else he'll end up being among one of the many failtures the Flyers have had in goal. |

I wouldn't undo any of these guys, however I did feel closer to winning three seasons ago then I do now. |

JVR is a nice player, but not a star. And he's gone, and he's been gone for how long now? It's old news.

They were. They had Pronger, Timonen, Carle and Coburn as the top four. They had good depth up front. Only thing missing was a reliable goalie.
Amazing what one injury can do when you don't have systemic depth. Now they are building for the future, while trying to be competitive now. |

Mase has all around better skills then Emery. He is more quick side to side. He handles the puck better. Right now both the team and Emery look more confident with Ray in net. I'd roll with Ray right now.
I think we are saying the same thing here, yes? |
