Ghost of Kerry Fraser?
Actually, I'm watching the third now, so I haven't seen those yet. The faceoff violation was a bad call, didn't catch which Red Wing it was on, but he played the puck with his stick - Jsaquella
Yeah that one was on Andersson. I think the ref just wanted some TV time. Clearly he knows he can't use his hand in the offensive zone regardless of the faceoff rule. I thought he used the shaft of his stick too. |

Ok then next question. Why didn't they call the high stick on Datsyuk or the trip on Nyquist in the last 5 minutes? - Feds91Stammer
I have your answer, and it is this: Because NHL referees are terrible.
I remember the trip on Nyquist but don't remember the high stick. Not saying it didn't happen though.
I also seem to remember a blatant offsides call going unnoticed our way, as well as a blatant icing call being missed in your guys' favor. The horrendousness does not discriminate, unless you play the Penguins or the Habs. |

It's interesting to me that Hexy claims Ghost is here on a "day to day" basis.
I mean...what else are they gonna do? Would he really call him up for a week's worth of games just to send him down again for...Brandon Manning? What?
I'd keep him up for the 15 games that either Coburn or Amac miss, then send him down once one of them suit up, or they find a veteran. It gives the team a good look at what he can do, and more importantly, the team and the player can see what can be worked on down in the AHL level.
A day to day basis for this kid seems silly to me, imo. I'm not saying he should be here to stay, but unless he just really poops the bed, he should stay up until one of those guys comes back. - Giroux_Is_God
Probably an ice time thing. Like he might develop better getting 20+ minutes in the AHL than he will getting 12 minutes with the Flyers. |

He wants Gostisbehere to play in the AHL and is trying to add a veteran via trade or UFA

Datsyuk had the puck near the high slot and got hit in the face real good. I do remember the non icing as well when the puck went by both teams benches as they were changing. I really don't know why Jimmy wasn't in net though. |

Certainly true, but who's to say Roob can't roll him out there for 17-18 minutes? He hardly looked out of place tonight once the jitters got out |

Yeah that's what I figured. But I mean that's not a given. What if he doesn't find one?
We already had one player shoot us down |

Didn't he pull a groin not too long ago? Or is that water under the bridge? |

Definitely but a year in the AHL might be good for him to refine his game. Krug played a full year in the AHL and that has worked out for him. |

Sorry, I know, but someone had to do this once the "pulled groin" was brought up |

He was put on 48hr IR last week with a sore groin. Played the last 2 games and they don't play again until Wednesday. Not that it was Gustavsson's fault but I always worry when he's in net. I can't wait until next year when Mrazek will finally be up full time. |

Absolutely. I actually am a proponent of him sticking down in the AHL for the season, but I'm also a proponent of the Flyers giving themselves the best chance they can to win hockey games.
Their top 2 dmen are down, after all. I say play him for 15 games, then send him back to the A for the rest of the year (hopefully the injuries are over by that point) |

I suspect unless Ghost makes a really strong case for himself, we'll see them audition a number of Phantoms during this next month. Hagg is looking all kinds of terrific, and he's got a more mature game than Ghost. Manning, as you mentioned. Alt, if he's not seriously hurt. |

They learned from rushing players in the past, (Sbisa was probably the best example, especially playing a much more difficult position).
I'm surprised he was brought up over Manning, Alt, or Lauridsen, guess that doesn't say much for those guys. |

Of those three only Alt has a chance to be more than a 6th or 7th guy at the NHL level.
I'm guessing they decided to give Ghost a shot to appease the fanbase and to get a glimpse of what he can do at the NHL level. |

I certainly wouldn't have a problem seeing Hagg suit up a few games. A week and a half for Ghost, a week and a half for Hagg, and a week and a half for Alt. It'll be a committee role. Maybe Laughton can come up and play D for a little!! |
