Oh... Yeah he looks really promising. I haven't seen him, but I've read a good amount about him. Prospect pool is definitely improving by leaps and bounds.

Best educated guesses as to when Tyrell Goulbourne will come blasting down the wing against a dman of Ryan Suter's caliber and score a game tying third period goal for the Flyers?

Mike Richards is averaging only 15:29 of ice time per game and 17:26 in his time with the Kings. He average 19:19 in Philly and had third straight seasons averaging 20+ from 2007-08 to 2009-10.

He went from cornerstone of a franchise to bottom 6 forward in 4 years. Makes the trade look better if you're into that.

I don't even care about that trade anymore. I wouldn't do Richards for Simmonds straight up now, let alone throwing Schenn in there.

The biggest reason I'm happy they went to LA is that Carchidi can only milk the trades twice a year

Yeah I don't care about the trade either. As far as I'm concerned, it worked out well for all parties. I liked Richards as a player and I'm glad I got to see him play for the Flyers. Same goes for Simmonds, Schenn, Carter, Voracek, etc.

All those emotions in one comment!?

How funny would If NHL 2014 had prospects, and you played a team of all of the failed draft picks of the Flyers against the worst team in the league. I'm not talking about the ones that didn't work out. That happens. I'm talking about the Klotz, Mathers, Goulbourne, etc kind of picks. The score would be like 45-0.

What time to you think the semiannual "X team won the Trade" article will come out? Around noon? This year, he'll probably say that we lost the Carter trade because Jeff has 12 points and Couts hasn't put up 60 points yet, regardless of anything else like defensive zone starts, etc.

I just don't understand if Goulbourne's upside is Zac Rinaldo, why waste that pick on him?

Already has a piece revisiting the Richards trade.

Actually, in fairness to Sam, you gotta fill newspapers and find stories. The average reader is not a Hockeybuzz poster. I think he generally had the same conclusion that most people here have reached - the Flyers benefit from the individual players received back. The Kings won 2 cups, albeit with Carter and Richards as pieces of a larger puzzle.

Well, I've said multiple times on here that I'd never waste a pick on either of them if the upside is solely as a 3rd/4th energy guy, agitator, or enforcer. I'm ok with a Cousins or a Laughton, because they bring more skill even if they end up on those lines.

But guys like Rinaldo and Goulbourne are a dime a dozen. You can sign a FA or better yet, an undrafted college FA. Harry Z brings the same skill set as Rinaldo, and didn't cost anything.

I'd rather the Flyers have drafted some Swedish winger with 2nd round talent and have him never play a game here vs. a Rinaldo or Goulbourne that does. Why? Because if you keep speculating on those reach guys (and you have a decent scouting organization) eventually you strike gold. MJL vehemently disagrees.

I was just looking at Sabres line up for tonight. They really could use a forward. You don't think they would do a one for one. B Schenn-T Myers?

I understand that part. My issue with Carchidi is that he doesn't seem to be that knowledgeable about hockey or at least not as much as a hockey writer should be. Plus sometimes he blows stories out of proportion. That's a common tactic for publications in order to get views and such but I'm not of fan of anyone that does it. Sometimes I just don't agree with his ideas like trade winners and losers 4 years after the fact. I don't think that's how trades should be evaluated (i.e. they should be kept in the context of the time in which they happened).

Agreed. I would rather swing for a homerun, then play it safe. If playing it safe means you add a NHL 4th line player who is going to play 6 minutes a night, those guys can be picked off trees. No need to draft them with a high draft pick.

No. Why would they want to improve the current roster anyway? They want to have the worst record and guarantee McDavid or Eichel.

They will only make a trade for future assets are if it's completely lopsided. Like Nichushkin
