Jaromir Jagr Junior - Tomahawk
There were a couple spots in that period where that is exactly what I was thinking. When he uses his size/puck protection skills he's pretty damn hard to stop. |

Good period and very impressive by Voracek. Jean Claude Van Damme is on a bit of a good game streak.
Umberger looks useless.
Ghost making some rookie decision mistakes but you can see the skill and hockey awareness. Kid needs to play to learn, not sit on the bench. - flyer_nutter
Umberger is playing a solid team game. He's a support player, and has been playing well.

He's been great. That's the best period of hockey I've watched from this team this year. Vs LA they bring their game and without AMAc and coby. If they could replicate that effort they'd be a lock for the playoffs - Hextall271
Grossmann and Schultz have really stepped up imo. |

hey you dont have to convince me of his skill. he is a hell of a playmaker, and i am personally more fond of playmakers than sniper types anyway. but like i said. it gets hard.
to me, its unfair to compare a center against a defender, or dare i say a goalie. its just too hard to compare a guy like giroux, against say a guy like weber, or doughty.
so while this may be a wussy cop out answer, i try to rank forwards and then defensemen separately.
out of just forwards, i dont think you can make the case for 20. but anywhere from 8 to 10? its at least up for debate. - stayinthefnnet

This team when the play how they're capable of, are a pretty good team. Unfortunately, sometimes they don't play how they're capable of.

So Voracek continuing his molten lava streak, leading the league with 11 assits! - Pixote Andolini
If he plays like this at least 90% of each season, plus pots 30 plus goals, I don't see how he cannot be considered elite in the near future. |

He has one of the best motors in the league, and is tenacious on the forecheck right now.

It's also important that they are getting time to practice, not playing a ridiculous amount of games, multiple back to backs
With them losing Coburn and then MacDonald, I have to believe that time to practice has helped them -- I think Ghost, for example, looks less nervous and more ready to make plays

I'd rather give Cousins a look almost.
Umberger and bSchenn need to get it going. Black holes on their lines. |

Kings got hemmed in their own zone a lot this period. Being down a player might really end up costing them in this one. |

I'm very critical of our players but so far not only does Voracek have more points then Giroux, he looks better then Giroux right now. Yeah, I said it. |

Ghost has also found himself in great position in the offensive zone at least twice with the puck on his stick and rather than fire it, he's almost surprised and reacts as if he needs to do something different than he initially thought. it's not that he's waiting for a better play (which he has the ability to do), but he appears to be overthinking it. when he gets rid of those nerves, watch out. |

Brayden Schenn had a solid first period. Was strong on the puck, and had a good scoring chance. Also retrieved the puck and won some board battles to help set up the PP.
And what do you know about Cousins and how he is playing? |

Flyers will have to keep trying to come hard at them, even if it comes with risks.
I don't enjoy the idea of starting to trap it up like they did against the Pens. Against LA who is looking scary when they get established in the Flyers zone... Playing with fire.
Play to your strengths. |

(frank) them, TBH -- I normally have some empathy, but with the Flyers playing without the two best defenseman they have on the roster and one more who is one of their four best, I got zero sympathy for anybody else right now |

do you see where i have difficulty though? maybe its just me. but its too hard if someone said well who is a better player? giroux, or (insert whoever you think is the top defenseman or two in the game).
but out of just forwards? hmm. unfair or not, i always end up forgetting about datsyuk because of his age. i guess the way i preface it in my mind is if you were picking a team today who do you go with, and because of that, datysuk probably unfairly gets left out by me.
but its always the same group of guys that get chucked out. Crosby, stamkos, malkin, tavares (i may be high on him, but he would be my second selection behind crosby. dude is unreal).
then you have the group with guys like getzlaf, giroux, toews, and the criminally underrated kopitar. guys can slide up and down this list to me on personal preference and what people respectively value. doesnt seem to necessarily be a wrong answer per se. but either way, giroux probably slots somewhere in the 7 to 11 range among forwards for me. |

They've been a pretty subpar possession team so far this season... part injuries, party hangover methinks. |
